He does know that I'm connecting through his connection and he said nothing has changed. I also have a laptop that connects through the same connection and it doesn't have any problems. One other thing is the connection speed goes from 54 to 1 right before the connection goes down.

Does your neighbor know that you are using his connection?
if not, maybe he changed his password, and you cannot use it anymore, so do ask neighbor first if anything changed ;)

SOURCE: Have internet connection but browser won't open

try pinging google.com from the problem pc.

  1. Go to START
  2. Go to RUN
  3. Type in CMD [hit enter]
  4. IN the dos window, type : ping google.com
  5. hit enter.
If your pc can reach google, it will ping back 4 successes

I would install and run spybot from spybot.com. That is a spy-ware checker program and is free.

Post back with results.

SOURCE: Intermittent wi-fi

Most laptops you can just flip them over and open an access panel. Usually just 2 or 3 screws are all that stand in your way. Some laptops like 1000 Model HP's require you to remove the entire plastic panel on the bottom. You will recognize the wireless card inside by two distinct cables that attach to two corners of it. It is usually 1.5 x 1.5 inches big and will have one cable hooked to main and one to auxillary. These cards are available for purchase online if you google internal wireless cards notebook. There may be other types out there but i run into this one almost every time!

MY TABLET SAYS I HAVE NO WI FI CONNECTION BUT THE WI FI SAYS' I AM CONNECTED

Hi. Has it ever worked, connected to this wifi? It could be a network ip conflict or bad connection. How many devices are connected to the wifi and on?
I would ask you to look at what you are connected to. is it the right wife's SSID? For instance not a neighbors. Can you disconnect and reconnect?

My laptop will not connect to wifi.

Is it your own wifi or a public wifi? In 9 cases out of 10, the person didn't open a browser to a new page so they could accept terms and conditions and truly connect. Just being connected in 'wifi connections', isn't fully connected. You are just connected to the signal, but not authorised to use the data feed. Sometimes when you open the browser to a new page you are asked for a password.

If it is your own, turn off wifi and then click the option that should say 'renew lease' or similar.

Why doesn't my digiland tablet connect to the internet at work. The wifi info says it's connected and excellent! Works fine at home. I also use a Nook Tablet and it connects fine!

Usually with 'work wifi', or any public hotspot, merely connected isn't enough. You have to open your browser and connect to a new page. It has to be something that isn't in history or cache. I favour ba.com because it is short. Accept the Terms and Conditions and click Connect. Once the page refreshes, you are connected.

At home, you are connecting to your own internet and not through a third party company like Datavalet, Boingo or similar. There is no terms and conditions to accept, so you are immediately connected.

My hipstreet aurora hs-7dtb6 won't connect to a wifi connection. i have the wifi turned on and n tried connecting it to my home wifi connection but it won't seem to reconnect, it did connect to my wif

If the signal is too weak the connection will be unstable. If you have a lot of wireless routers in your neighborhood it could be affecting your connection. Everything will work fine then the neighbor turns on his equipment and you lose your connection. Try switching the router to a different channel. Try channel 11.

What is belkin186 have to do with end user an wifi on my phone? Is this a neighbors wifi conect? Am i stealing? Every time i go to wifi belkin186 is instantly conected.is this my wifi?

Belkin 186 is a wifi that is open. It could be a neighbor's wifi. The fault is that this is an open connection and your phone finds it. In your phone there is a network selection option in this if you open will find other available connections. select the one you want key in your password and you are ready to go. you can selct wifi186 and selct forget. should work

Well, I bought this to take to public places with Wi-Fi. Will it work there? Also, I don't have wi-fi at home but my friend uses her laptop at my house saying it probably works because a neibor has Wi-Fi....

It should work fine if the public places have open (non-secure) WI-FI. Try it at your local library.
I would not use your neighbor non-secure WIFI since it can be trace back to you and it is not fair to use your neighbor for free unless you ask your neighbor or offer to share the cost which is probably the best thing to do to reduce the cost.

We've got the Dlink DES-1008D setup in our office. Since the past 3 weeks, we've been facing disconnection problems. 5 desktop computers, all new and very recent, are connected to this. We've got an...

Ok, the next time when the disconnection occurs. Try the following:

Open command prompt. And try pinging www.google.com, if the ping is successful and you are still unable to access the internet, then you may want to check the proxy settings on your web broswer, or possibly repair/reinstall the browser. You can also try accessing the internet on a different browser.

If you are unable to ping google successfully, then try to ping the IP address of your wifi modem, this is your default gateway. If you are unable to ping this address successfully, then check the cable from the DES-1008D switch to the wifi modem. As a local area connection 'connected' just shows that the link from your PC to switch is fine.

Please try these steps and let me know the results.

Regards..
