Question about Kenmore Washing Machines
My wife and I recently purchased this Kenmore 25102 from Sears. I washed my work clothes today, and the lid did not unlock at the end of the cycle. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

mk, there is two ways to work around the lid. The lid lock works by magnet. If you have a large magnet laying around you can fool the mechanism and run the washer without it locking. You will have to find the spot near the center front and experiment until you get the right spot. The second way is to lift the whole top assy. About 3 or 4 inches in from each end where the top seperates from the bottom there will be a clip that you can push in on and lift the whole top. Now these clips are real strong so you need a good putty knife. Pull up on the top as you are pushing in. This way you can add your stuff while doing a normal wash. The codes are for diagnosis, testing different functions of the machine, it wouldn't do you any good for what you are trying to do. Catriver..post back

I have a Series 80 and when I lift the lid it does not stop aggitating when in wash mode. When I lift the lid it does stop spinning when in rinse mode. As designed.
To stop wash-mode aggitation at lid-lift, using the existing lid switch and other electrical components, is not easy and not recommended. I can think of a way to do it (triple-pole lid switch) but I will not detail the idea .. for safety concerns.
To stop aggitation, simply use the main settings dial control. You'll save money and possibly prevent a fire hazard!

If you tried a different cycle and it worked this means that the timer is probably bad on the main cycle that you use. If the machine does not spin on all cycles, then please check out the LID SWITCH.

Improperly installed thrust bearing kit. Too many washers cause the basket to spin during agitation.
