If you have access to an external keyboard, plug this into your laptop USB (or PS/2) port. If this works you may have a faulty keyboard on your laptop.

SOURCE: Some keys stop working on keyboard

The particular keyboardpart must have gone. I had his problem with my Dell some years back. I removed the entire laptop, removed and reinstalled teh keyboard wire to the motherboard..and the problem did not arise. Happens whenever over heating occurs.

yes it is probably dead for some reason ..the probabil cause it is a contact for a area..and this is a used but a good price one ...that works ..
here are another if that one seams not on your taste ...among them are even new ones..

to actually change it ..you have to remove the front part that covers the hinges and holds the buttons ..(see that it have spots to insert something on the F1 and f11 keys ) than remove the keyboard itself by pushing it a little toward the lcd..and up..it is snapped in place and slides in a little...Than it has just a ribbon that removes by pulling the safety plastic ends a few mm out ...

Dell inspiron 1300, g and h keys suddenly stopped

There are some circuits malfunktion in your keyboard.
Try to connect and external keyboard and you will see that the external keyboard works fine.
This way you can continue using your computer,
and continue writing, untill you get a replacement keyboard.
You need to replace the keyboard.
Hope this helped you to continue using your computer.

Some keys just stopped working? Any suggestions?

Replace the keyboard -- it's much cheaper to replace than to pay a technician to try to trouble-shoot.

Dell Inspiron 1545 space bar, ''n'' and ''b'' keys suddnly don't work

There isn't any "Known Issues" that I am aware of with that model. Try re-seating the keyboard cable, see if there is any difference:

If no difference, contact Dell if under warranty. If not new keyboards are about $20 on EBay

Some keys stopped working on my Dell SK8135 If I hold them down for 20 or 30 seconds they start to work. Suggestions? (Otherwise i like this keyboard.) Jordan ...

This could easily be just dirt under the keyboard , if you dont have a warranty on then i suggest you take the keys out of the keyboard and clean it gently Without water , and put the keys back on..If you have a warranty, rather take it back too the shop

Keyboard stopped working after a Windows update yesterday at 4:28 PM. External USB keyboard now attached. No BIOS keyboard settings found. Dell Studio Laptop. All keyboard drivers are up to date. Help????

First thing I would do is get the dell diagnostics disc (hold f12 at start up) and run that, while trying to use the keyboard. (move the arrow keys around and see if they work. you might have to unhook the usb keyboard first) if the keyboard works in the diagnostics area, then its not a hardware issue. (kbd failure would mean no keys worked, or, only some worked sometimes.) You would then need to go into windows device manager and try rolling back the keyboard drivers. If you have full kbd functions outside windows, then you have a windows driver issue. try rolling back, or removing the drivers.

Key board does not work[only blue marked key is workig]

I have a dell laptop and had this happen to me. It's a simple solution, your "Fn lock" is swithed on. Hold down the Fn button and hit Num lock. Now your other keys should be working rather than the blue keys. Hope it helps

Dell Latitude D610 keys don't work

Sorry to hear about your keyboard problem. Keyboards go bad and I don't really think it was a key combination or anything you did. I've replaced many, many keyboards in Latitude D610 machines and I can tell you that they do go bad after a while.

The good news is that if you want to replace it, you can find them on eBay or other sites at a reasonable price. Replacing one takes less than five minutes and all you need is a small flat head screwdriver.
