How can I stop the squealing noise in the motor on my Sanitaire wide track commercial vacuum? It's making a squealing the minute I turn it on

Is it the motor or the brush roll? Remove the brush roll and belt and see if it still squeals. If not clean or replace the brush roll and get a new belt. Inspect the fan to insure there is not something stuck in it. If it's the motor you can try to clean it, make sure there is not something stuck in the motor causing the noise.

Bissell bagless 6583 brush won't turn after new belt

Sorry to hear about the difficulty with the brush. If your brush does not turn by hand freely, then your brush needs to be replaced.

Here is a quick link to order a new brush:

Shark SV736R motorized brush won't rotate

The 2 metal pins of the motorized brush are not in contact with the vacuum cleaner. or the Motorized brush is clogged up. You have mentioned that it is cleaned, but still give a thorough inspection. For the metal pins, firmly insert the motorized brush into the air-intake nozzle. This will connect the motorized nozzle to the unit power supply.

The brushes won't turn, and cleaning the filter (as suggested in the owner's manual) doesn't help.

Hi ken wright.
Remove the bottom of the head of the vacuum...remove the roller brush assembly.
Clean the assembly...remove the end caps and clear all hair, strings, etc from the end cap and rotating brush head.
After cleaning the brush head and bearings, lube the bearings with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in 1 oil.
Check your belt condition.
Reassemble and you should be good to go

The vacuum is making a noise like something is stuck when it is in the carpet position but not when in the floor position. I can't find anything that is stuck in the areas that I can see. I have cleaned...

As far as the roller brush goes, yes, it does need to be cleaned. Follow the directions to remove it and clean as best you can of all debris. On both ends of the roller brush there will be two "holders" of sort that connect the brush to the frame of the vacuum. These need to be able to turn freely around the brush. Clean them as best you can and spray some WD40 in between the roller and both the holders. Work the holders around by hand to be sure they move freely. I would also check to see if your belts are snug.
Please let me know if this does not help solve your problems. Paul

Our brush won,t spin can you help?

Most likely your brush needs to be removed and cleaned. Clean all debris that might be in the bristles of the brush. You will see a holder for the brush on each end that holds it into the frame of the vacuum. The two holders should turn freely. If they do not, spray a bit of WD40 between the brush and the holders and rotate the holders around the brush. Doing this will clear up the most common occurring cause of the problem you are facing. One other important item is the belt that drives the brush. Make sure it has not broken or stretched. If it has, replace it while cleaning the brush.
Good luck and feel free to contact me if you find this does not solve your problem.

My hoover carpet scrubber the brushes won

(1) Remove the brush block and assure the presence of the square drive pin on top of one brush. It should be about 1/4 inch square, two inches long to connect o the drive mechanism.

(2) Remove and clean the filter screen from the base, behind the brushes. Squeeze the two red tabs together, and pull down from the base. Clean the hiar/debris from the screen.

(3) Assure the Brush Speed knob on the hood is NOT set to the OFF position.
