Has sound ,no backlight, faint image

If you see a faint image, backlight is there, but its intensity is less. There are many reasons for this fault. From back-light inverter board to LCD panel should be checked for the fault. Powers on, no display

Do you have sound? If so, dim the lights in the room and shine a bright flashlight on the screen and see if you have a faint picture. If you have a faint picture, you have a backlight problem. On most of those sets, the backlight inverter is combined with the power supply so that power supply/inverter board will more than likely be the culprit!

I have a gateway FPD2185W TFT Monitor with the power button always ON (blue) and no video. Nothing is working: menu, input, etc..

Look at the monitor at and angle from the top, bottom or side. You are looking for a faint picture of what you would usually see. You will need some good light to see this. If you do see a faint picture this means the backlight on the lcd is broken. I would get a new monitor, I would not recommend trying to replace the backlight.

Hello, My Samsung monitor(Model 740N) blanked out suddenly. I tried to restart and nothing appeared on the screen. I am not able to go in the safe mode too as nothing is visible. While the system...

If you can see the screen image very faintly, the backlight system has shut down. This can be due to a component failure (driver transistor, transformer, or ccfl tube) or action by the backlight controller. Without disassembly and more information (test results) from within it is not possible to diagnose further.

Dell Latitude LCD screen is dark, but computer is still working.

It sounds like the backlight has burned out. The faint light you are seeing is ambient light in your room being reflected through the LCD. Try it in a perfectly dark room and see if you can see anything on the screen. The following page should give you a sense of what is involved in replacing a backlight: If you aren't comfortable taking things like this apart, I would recommend finding a local repair shop to replace the backlight.
