Question about GoVideo DV2130 DVD Player/VCR

1 Answer

New DVDs won't play without a loud buzzing sound, and a lot of glitching/jitter on the top half of the screen.

New DVDs won't play without the DVD player making a strange, loud buzzing noise, and every few seconds, the top center of the screen will glitch to a color-streaked rectangle, or the top half of the screen will become jittery. This problem doesn't occur with older DVDs, only DVDs that have come out within the past two years. They're not blu-ray, so that's not the problem. Is there any way to fix this problem?

On the a/c adapter, (red yellow and white.. unplug your yellow connector and if that doesn't fix it, then plug it back in and unplug the white one.

My toshiba BDXK100 won't play DVDs other than Blu-Ray

There may be a issue with the assembly, blu-ray plays with more precision and speed, for some reason it is not slowing down to play the regular DVD's may be a padder motor problem.

Let me make sure I understand this. When you have a DVD play in English, you get a buzzing noise in your wireless headphones. But if it plays in Spanish, it sounds fine? Does this occur with every DVD, or just a certain DVD? Have you tried listening to it without the headphones - using car speakers. If so, did you have the same problem? If you can answer those questions for me, I can try to figure out what's wrong here.

Will only play about half the dvds that we put into it. once in awhile if you turn it off and on it will read the disc.

This sounds like the spindle is not spinning the media you may need a new motor, take the top off to see if when you press play the dvd spins this will confirm this

DVR making bad DVDs

Three suggestions:
1) take it apart and clean the laser and the spindle 'hub' that the DVD rests on
OR
2) get a 'cleaner' disk that will 'whisk' any dust from the laser diode.
OR as a final suggestion
3) replace the DVD recorder with another. Plain old EIDE parallel interface units fit fine.
This is a very friendly machine in that it will accept PC compatible hard disks and DVDR drives.

Small glitches with home-burnt DVDs only

Gents,

Not a solution but in case it may help other's understanding with a similar problem, found glitch to be related to the default Chapter-making process within the Panasonic DVD recorder when dubbing a DVD. Default appears to be 5 mins 20 seconds per chapter, i.e. 320 seconds. Glitches from these DVDs are seen regularly on two of my four DVD players at every 32 seconds, i.e. one-tenth of the chapter length. Can't explain why this happens, or why indeed two of the players sail-through this recurring glitch without problem.
