I get this call all the time does it not heat at all or heats but takes a longer than usual time to dry if it does not heat at all then there is a power interruption to the heating element without the exact model to look up the electrical schematic do not know how it is wired usually power goes thru a thermal fuse to the hi limit to the heater also possible you may have an open heating element, if it only heats a little then remove the the exhaust tube from dryer turn on place your hand over the exhaust if you feel heat for a period of time then cool air then heat again means it is cycling correctly when I say heat should be hot enough to be uncomfortable then you have a restricted exhaust that exits the house.

My dryer is getting so hot that it is shutting itself off mid cycle. I can restart but it only runs a short time....gets really hot and shuts off again!!

Check your entire vent tubing from the outside vent to the line coming out of the back of the dryer.
Overheating indicates low air discharge flow. The air in the dryer must move out quickly so the heat doesn't build up too much.
Try that & post back.

Dryer doesn t get hot

it is going to be either the igniter for the gas or the heating element
you probably have an electric igniter. it is not igniting the gas to make the dryer heat i would definantly start with that
