My 1990 f150 has no brake light ,turn signal or tag light on the left (drivers) side. I have replaced the brake switch and the fuse. Does this side need to rewired? Is it possible the wire is broken...

use a multimeter to check wires. you should get a voltage reading if your wires are good. check fuses. disconnect trailer harness and try checking wires from that point . if you have voltage you may want to check the wiring of the trailer harness to be certain it is correct. you may also want to check your ground to that side. if fuses are blown you have a short

2001 f 150 extended cab. trailer lights were working. had to replace a trailer light uhit because it was broken. now lights do not work properly. running lights work. turn signal only works if running...

The description of the problem is very confusing. If the trailer is disconnected, do all of the functions work OK? If so the problem is with the trailer wires. If all worked before you replaced the light, then thats where the problem lies. The turn signal/brake lights are a seperate circuit than the running lights. The brown should be hot with running lights, and the yellow and green are the turn/brake signals. The trailer lights should be grounded to the trailer frame, and the frame connected to the white wire, Make sure the white wire is connected to the plug on the truck side and connected to the frame of the truck. The turn signal that works with only the running lights on doesnt make sense, and grounds are the most common item. Some Ford trucks have seperate fuses for right and left. There a small fuse box under the hood, near the brake booster.

Installing a 7-pin trailer towing recptical on a 1991 Ford F150.

I believe you can look up the manufacturer of the trailer plug kit and find the wiring diagram there. On alot of the trailer plug kits, they have pics and diagrams in the package. The 7 pin plug (truck side) is available with the pig tail set up that plugs directly into the wiring harness for the lights. Then all you would have to worry about is the 2 wires for the electric brakes.

Trailer wiring

Make sure you have a good trailer to truck ground. Check the white wire on the trailer harness and make sure you have a good clean contact at the trailer ball. This is a ground source between the two.
