Make sure that the tip is not resting on your cheek. That is were the microphone is in that pin hole, adjust the headset so that it stays off of your cheek

I think you have to use the jog wiel at the front of your camera
normaly you use it to zoom in and out.
With phonecalls, multimedia, radio and mp3 player you
use the same function to set the volume level high or low.

This problem I've had myself But it will only solve the problem if your cell uses a sim card. When the sim cards go bad thats whats happens your hear them but they can't hear you or vice-versa.
