I have a AO smith ST1152 and red black and green wires. How do I wire it

Verify the voltage to the pump. These days motors and pumps largely are set to run on 230v out of the box (for in ground pools). If your supply voltage is 115v, the motor will run at half speed. This would cause poor suction. If this is the case, do this:

On the side of the motor there is a diagram on how to convert the wiring from 230v to 115v so it will run on the correct voltage. Most of the time, that's the issue. Flip the breaker off before working on it.

No suction for pool vac

If you are not getting any suction to the vacuum, but the pump is working fine the rest of the time, start by checking all of your connections that conncets the cleaner to the filter and pump. Make sure there are no cracks, lose hoses, etc. Then, check for the following common problems with your pump that might cause low pressure in pool pumps:

1) Pump not primed

2) Leakage of air into suction system

3) Impeller clogged

4) Valve in suction or discharge line partly closed; Suction or discharge

line partly plugged or too small.

5) Plugged basket in skimmer or hair in lint strainer

6) Dirty filter.

Pump has been starting well then notice hours later no circulation. Now motor runs and there is no circulation from the start. Checked for air in system and had pump primed. Will not pick up suction.

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

Open up the pump and make sure the impeller is not broken. If it is ok you will need to look for leaks in the suction line(s). Start with the pump skimmer basket lid gasket and any unions or valves in front of the pump. You may need a pressure test if you can not find the suction leak on your own. Plumbers and some pool service companies should be able to provide that service if you need it.

Hayward flo pump motor repair

What exactly is wrong with your pool pump? If it won't start at all, check for improper or loose connections, blown fuses or tripped breakers, and open your switches and replays. Manually check the rotation of your motor shaft. Make sure that there is free movement and no obstructions. If the motor hums, but won't start, check for obstructions and check the Centrifugal switch to see if it is stuck in the open position. If you have low flow, check pool pumps for clogged or restricted strainer/suction line and discharge line of filter. You could also have an air leak in suction (bubbles issuing from return fittings). Low voltage could cause loss of suction. Check for plugged or restricted impeller.

I have a Shasta pool from 1996. I replaced the

either you have an air leak somewhere on the suction side or your impeller is very clogged. you can fill the pump with water and turn it on, it should try to pick up prime, right when it starts to pull in some water turn it off and try to listen for air leaks or water squirting out somewhere on the suction side. Also, remove the pump basket and try to feel the impeller to see it there is any debris in it. the main cause for a clogged impeller is a cracked or broken pump basket. Also, if the pump has run dry for any period of time, the threaded fitting on the suction side of the pump can shrink and cause a large enough air leak to keep the pump from priming.

Hayward pool motor shuts off in backwash mode.

Check the pump suction filter? To backwash it, is to
open the backwash tank cleanout valve, to clear the dirt out. If this does not work, check the pipelines going to the backwash tank for clogged lines.

My pump is running however it's pressure is less than 10 psi and the heater on the pool will not run.

With the Jacuzzi Magnum pool pumps, low pressure is going to likely be cause by one of the issues below. Try these troubleshooting tips.

1.Pump not primed

2.Leakage of air into suction system

3.Impeller clogged

4.Valve in suction or discharge line partly closed or suction or discharge line partly plugged or too small. 5.Plugged basket in skimmer or hair in lint strainer.

6.Dirty filter.

Leaves in the skimmer line and its plugged

Is the obstruction on hte suction side or supply side of the pump?

Either way, you can disconnect the pump, and work from there. If the pump was installed correctly there shgould be unions ( fitting that can be reconnected on the pump suction and supply. If not, you can cut the pipes a few inches from the pump and then shorten the remainder to acomodate the length of the union. Glue these in place follow the instructions on the glue can.

Try using a water hose with the water on from the direction of the pump to the pool. see if this does the job. Leaves should be able to be pulled through by the oumop, I suspect somthing larger. Do you have a strainer on the suction line? Have you checked the pool filter?

I would check the filter first. Why do you think the problem is a clogged line? How do you know the pump is performing? Does it run a Spa, and nbot the pool?
