Pressing the on button machine turns on momentarily but does not stay on. Turns off the moment you take the pressure off the start button

If you are not squeezing the handle to let the water out, it will shut off.

Let's see if we can get it into diagnostic mode and check for any fault codes. Make sure the dryer is in standby mode, plugged in with all the indicators off. Select any button except the PAUSE/CANCEL button. PRESS/HOLD 3 SECONDS > RELEASE FOR 3 SECONDS > PRESS/HOLD 3 SECONDS > RELEASE FOR 3 SECONDS > PRESS/HOLD 3 SECONDS. If test mode was entered successfully all indicators will illuminate for 5 seconds with 88 showing in the two digit display. If there are no saved or active fault codes all indicators will momentarily turn off then stay on with 88 in the display. If there are any fault codes, the most recent one will alternately show F- and "XX " where XX is the fault code. and all the cycle indicators will flash. If you can't enter the test mode try a different button. Lets start there.

press F1 at start up to check the bios for power management settings as perhaps there is a conflict to the settings in Windows. Also I would check what is running in startup (msconfig) and leave nothing but essential antivirus and antispyware. I have seen Norton or MacAfee come up and cause this on several HP Laptops until I uninstalled every last bit of it

also ensure the laptop is in a roomy place a overheating could also be the cause

1: Defective door lock switch
2: Defective electronic control board.

Get model and serial number of machine, enter model number on search engine and seek same like conditions. You should find solution to problem, or place model number here for me to correctly tell what is wrong.

the lamp ballast is bad and needs replacement.

If that dryer has a 4 wire start switch which simply twists a quarter turn to get off then replace it.

to take out of test mode you must turn it on while pressing the start/cancel and on buttons at the same time until dOFF appears.

It seemed like there is a corruption in the phone's firmware. You should be able to take it back to where you bought it and get a replacement.

Note** The firmware tells your phone what to do when you press any button....without it, the phone is nothing more than a shell.
