Question about Electrolux EL7020A Oxygen 3 Ultra Canister Vacuum Cleaner Bagged Vacuum

1 Answer

El7020a beater brush wont run... no headlights. vacuum OKAY

I used a blunt blade putty knife to push in the rear clips... while forcing the cover up. These clips are every bit as stong as auto door clips (amazing for such a thin panel) but now I got the two TORX T20 screws out... Pushing through the holes released the cover and the bag cover... Nicely. Now I'm staring at a perfectly good fuse on an arched board. Continuity tested OK... and shunted around the fuse... My problem persists. At this point I can only conclude this IS NOT THE FAULTY Part 1180136-63 ... never the less the Suma board. There is a smaller rectangular board the leads from the 3 hose wires terminate into...1180110-06 Somebody ... anybody? Is this my "No brush or head-lite" issue...?? Just can't get that !$#@**&%! cover off. Somebody... Anybody? Hello? *** Okay... looked so good ... I fixed it myself: "ereplacementparts"... Yessiree $56... Part Number: 1180110-06 Bingo!

I know this is obvious, but did you check the belt?

Testimonial: "I have two good power heads ... neither works (and the parallel wired head-lights do not come on either)... that is why I was into looking for something obvious on the control boards (1180136 and 1180110)... The fuse has continuity and looks good... but thank you very kindly for the interest. I do appreciate it."

The suction motor runs fine and powers on and off fine. The beater brush is not coming on. I have continuity tested the power thru the hose and tested the operability of the suction, brush/light switch & suction switch. They all register when operated. but power is not applied to the beater brush. My Dyson vaccum leaves a row of multiple lines on my plush carpet. I've never had s vaccum leave more than the two wheel lines. I called customer service and they had no solution for me!

It's the beater bar brush. Turn it over and use a screwdriver or knife, and run it the full width of the beater bar to remove the hair and string and other debris that get wound up on the beater bar-NOTE you do NOT have to remove the beater bar or take apart anything. As long as the beater bar spins, and there are no missing sections on the beater bar- this will work. Beater bar could also be worn down- be sure that the bristles extend past the bottom of the vacuum- ALWAYS DO THIS WITH THE POWER OFF

My electrolux oxygen vacuum wont go and i suspect power supply to the motor or the motor itself

The silver cover is a pressed in panel... (so called "three minute job".. hazardous, quite DEADLY voltages will be UNCOVERED.. use EXTREME caution)
and requires pretty good pressure to get it off... enough where a careless move can damage the cover.
Carefully:
Look at the back of the panel: there are two 1.25 inch (approx) wide slots.
(just imaging a battery flap on a cheap remote controller)
If you can gently introduce a blunt end putty knife into the slot and firmly push it straight forward (toward the hose end (there is a plastic friction tab at each outside end))... with a lifting action you will see the panel start to lift ... you will be able to see the tabs
if you look closely.
Insert your thumbnail on the much stronger corner and pry upward (this requires a lot of force and the corners are the strongest area... breaking the cover is very possible)
Once the silver cover is off you will see the two T20 Torx screws.
Removing them will only loosen the back end... which you should -exercise some caution here... that LED bracket is loose and all the weight is on the wires of the LEDs.
Now set the Vac on in the upright position (nozzle to the ceiling).
Complete release of the top is done by opening the bag compartment and pushing a through the red rectangles in the upper hinge wall. These are latched tabs and will easily lift once the tab is pushed in enough (try not to gough or mar... rememeber it is only plastic).
Both the bag cover and the back cover will lift.
Leave the bag cover and gently negotiate the back cover from inside the handle.
You can now see the big board SUMO (suction motor control board )...
If the glass fuse is not blown... and there are no obvious soot marks...
Take it to the VAC Repair for a free estimate.. They'll tell you it is the hose!!
(which is indeed the biggest failure point of these machines).
Hose slip rings can be inspected <dust & lint>and cleaned (PLUS ruined... Highly likely if you don't get the contacts back in their respective slots) by one screw on the wand end... or three screws on the control/handle end (inside tool carrier recess).

Is the beater brush on the Bissell Helix NOT to spin on bare floor setting?

Hey Tony! The brush does continue to rotate when using the vacuum on the bare floor setting.

The power to rotate the beater bar only works half the time..it seems to be very positional. In the past I could get it to work, now it just won't turn. Have tried the re-set button . Expensive vaccum...

Is the power nozzle motor itself not working? If it's not, the problem could be the wiring, the switch, the vacuum power switch, the connectors from hose to machine, or the circuit board in the machine.
My best guess would be the connector from hose to vacuum. The vacuum connector are cheaply made and held in place by flimsy plastic.
If the pn motor is running, it's most likely a broken belt. Initially a worn or loose belt would cause intermittent operation of the brush. Replace it and the brush should work.
Depending on the part, your machine may still be covered by warranty. Check your manual or internet for warranty information.
If under warranty, take it to the store your purchased it from for repair or replacement.

"Eureka - Pet Expert HEPA Bagless Upright Vacuum - Mystic Purple" is BRAND new and burning! I literally had soot on my hand and up my nose and mouth after using it just now. I've only had it for 24 hours....

Sounds like the beater brush is frozen and the drive belt is burning up.
Check your directions on changing the drive belt for the beater brush. When you remove the beater brush, clean as best you can. At each end of the beater brush you will find a plastic clip. These clips hold the beater brush in the vacuum. Add some WD40 between the brush and the clips. Turn the clips by hand and be sure they turn freely. Reassemble and at the same time, put on a new drive belt.

How do you open the power head to remove the beater brush on a kenmore 116 canister? I have a piece of twine wrapped around the end of the beater brush

Greetings,

Thank you so much for that clarification, I know the exact model of Kenmore that you have now. This model is actually made by Panasonic for Sears who puts the Kenmore name on it. I wasn't able to located the Sears owners manual, but I did find a Panasonic model that uses the same power nozzle as yours does. I will also explain how to access the roller brush below, and if you'd like to see diagrams of how to do it, you may visit the link below to the Panasonic owners manual. Start at page 46, then go back to page 40.
http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/MCCG973-MUL.pdf

In order to access the roller brush on this model, here's what you need to do. Underneath of the headlight cover, there are two screws that need to removed first. In order to get to these screws, simply push on both sides of the headlight cover, and lift it straight up while pushing both sides. After the headlight cover has been removed, you'll be able to visibly see the two screws that need to be unscrewed (phillips head screw driver). Remove these two screws next.

After the screws have been removed, turn the power head upside. If you look at both the left and the right sides, you'll see a little indentation on each side. All you need to do is put a flat head screwdriver in these indentations, and pry up on both sides. This will remove the top housing. Once you have top housing removed, you'll see there's one more cover that goes over the roller brush. There are two tabs on both sides behind the roller brush. If you squeeze these two tabs, you can now remove the white colored housing that covers the brush, and have full access to the brush.

I hope that this helps you remove the twine from your beater bar. If you found this repair helpful, please be sure to rate it by clicking the thumbs up icons in the top right hand corner. If you have any other questions about how to repair this, please feel free to request a clarification, or add a comment to the repair, and I'll be more then happy to help you.

Thanks very much,

Chris Jones

Replace belt and dyson vacuam cleaner, model dc14 I ordered a new belt and brush replacement assembly and we can't seem to understand how to get it apart to change it

If the DC14 has a brush protected aspect i.e. a switch on the front that puts the drive belt off, the drive belt would have to be replaced by a professional repairer as this can't be done at home.
If the model doesn't have the brush control at the front, flip the Dyson over so that the beater bar is in the air and locate three/four screws that can be taken out with a coin or blunt knife. A turn is all that is required on those notches and the sole plate should come off once these notches have been undone. Then check the belt - if it has broken lift out the beater bar in the middle with your hand and replace the sections necessary. Be careful to check that the end caps are pushed in properly otherwise the beater bar will not sit correctly.

Electrolux Oxygen3 model EL7001

If it is the top cover, the monitoring panel just pops off from the backside. You can use a thin knife or screwdriver and push on the locking clips, it then just hinges off of the front clips. After that is off you can see the two screws and after the top cover hinges off the actual door to the vac bags is attached to that cover it too hinges off.

Hope this helps

Change Belt

Turn the vac. over, remove the bottom plate covering the brush roll, then on the bottom of the top cover, on each side there should be 2 slots when you can put a flat blade scredriver, pry up to release the tabs holding the cover on. The know will come off also when you do this, just put it back on when the put the cover back on. Put the belt on the brush roll and feed it thru the opening and stretch to put over the motor shaft. The top cover, push down to lock it.
