Question about Boating
Bought boat with the engine wont go into gear. looks like some one hit the bottom of the shaft on a rock, beside proppeler a 2in split and the case pushed in a bit. proppeler go round.
If the split is just behind the prop then wont interfear with gears ? ! does the control lever move the connections on the engine ? if not look inside the control box , if yes then remove gear cable on the engine and move the linkage by hand and check if it goes in F n R , if yes then cable stretched or out of adjustment ! if not then remove the gearbox and check the gear rod ! mite have to strip the box and check inside !

Hi, did you buy your engine used? Sounds like your gonna have to get the carb or carbs cleaned. Its possible you could have a stopped up fuel filter, or not enough spark but i am guessing its gonna be the carbs. They got some gunk in em i bet. Probably old fuel turned to gunk from setting up. I had the same problem on my 40 horse.
