Question about Maytag Freezers

Maytag upright freezer mqf1656tew00 not cold enough

Thermostat clicks at 2 which I think is when it is shutting off and then clicks at near the max setting. Cannot hear a fan running inside. Can hear the compressor running. Ice flow coming from the bottom of the panel covering the evaporator and pooled up frozen (barely) in the bottom of the freezer. Getting a temperature now but things inside are soft frozen.

My Woods upright freezer MU07W running great for 9 years. Will it continue to run if I decide to place it outside on the balcony where temperature goes down to 20 below F or to max of 90 F plus?

Not the best idea. We had one in our garage where it got cold but not that awful cold. Not a good idea unless you want to take a chance. If the unit shuts down for a long time because of the cold the system could freeze or seize up.

Upright Freezer not cold enough

Honestly it sounds as if you have a sealed system issue, most likely low on freon.

Freezer & fridge not cold enough

Please check the Thermostat switch settings. Try to put it to max cool and then see the results. If it still does not cool the you have to check the refrigent. It is lee and leaking somewhere. Get a technician and get it charged up.

My Whirlpool upright freezer keeps building up ice inside the bottom back wall. The fan starts rattling and freezer will not stay cold enough to make ice. If I take everything all out and leave it off...

Either your defrost timer, defrost heater or defrost thermostat has failed. All parts are located behind the lower back panel inside the freezer. Most likely are the defrost heater and defrost thermostat.

Kenmore upright older freezer coils frost up

the tech was telling you to put it in defrost and if ater the time you didn't hear the click the defrost timer is defective but like you are describing the defrost thermostat (bimetal) could be bad. here's a simple test (if your handy with a screwdriver) just dissasemble the panel and you will see the coil and defrost heater. if your handy with a voltmeter (please disconnect power first!) locate the two wires to the defrost element put the meter in "audible" mode and check for continuity on the defrost heater if you hear a beep it's good if it dosen't beep it's bad just replace heater w/ bimetal and your ready 2 go! email me @ hvac.tech7872pr@gmail if you have any questions

IS THE FREEZER AN AUTO DEFROST FREEZER? IF SO, IS THERE FROST BUILT UP ON THE BACK WALL? IF FROST APPEARS ON THE BACK WALL, THERE IS A DEFROST FAILURE. THERE ARE THREE ITEMS IN THE DEFROST CIRCUIT. THE TIMER, HEATER, AND BI-METAL.
THE TIMER IS USUALLY LOCATED ON THE BACK OF THE FREEZER DOWN NEAR THE COMPRESSOR IN THE CORNER. IT HAS FOUR WIRES ATTACHED TO IT. YOU CAN ADVANCE THE TIMER BY TURNING THE KNOB ON THE FACE OF THE TIMER. WHEN IT CLICKS LOUD AND STOPS THE COMPRESSOR RUNNING, IT IS IN THE DEFROST CYCLE. WAIT 5 MNUTES AND CHECK INSIDE THE FREEZER
TO SEE IF THE HEATER COMES ON. YOU MAY BE ABLE TO HEAR THE FROST MELTING AND DROPPING ON THE HEATER. IT WILL SIZZLE AND POP. ALSO, LOOK FOR A GLOWING DOWN AT THE BOTTOM OF THE BACK PANEL.
IF THE HEATER IS ON, THE TIMER IS BAD. IF NOT, CHECK THE HEATER AND BI-METAL.
IF THE COMPRESSOR IS NOT RUNNING, CHECK THE COLD CONTROL TO SEE IF IT IS GOOD. IF THE COLD CONTROL IS O.K., THE START DEVICE ON THE COMPRESSOR MAY BE BAD. DOES THE COMPRESSOR HUM FOR A MINUTE AND THEN CLICK AND SHUT OFF. IT CAN BE EITHER THE START DEVICE (RELAY) OR THE COMPRESSOR IS BAD.
