SOURCE: removing flywheel and clutch assembly ms 250 stihl

You need a piston stop, watch part of this to explain use:
Make one with starter cord or rope:
I suggest a length of starter cord or nylon rope be used instead of the piston stop (retain 6" ± so you can remove it). Make sure the piston is near the top of the cylinder before feeding the cord or it can fall through the exhaust port and damage the piston as it rises. HTH

Testimonial: "Thanks for your help, I got the clutch assembly off with the rope as a cylinder stop. But the flywheel is going to require a puller i think."

Stihl ts400 no spark even after fitting new coil

I think if you have ordered a new ignition coil without give-up the serialnumber and year of build of the engine as the most important cause in this kind of disappointments because often there can be made a modification on the coil AND flywheel. both on new models and even the sparkplug changed for better heat degree
Some sellers have are not interesting and often do not know about it themselves, but giving the details on forehand there shall be a book opened. in the differences about modifications.
By themselves they do not usually, as long as it sells, because marketing technical based modifications are common on much technical tools and instruments.

MY Stihl BR-550 Has a rebuilt Carb, Clean spark arrestor, New spark plug, fresh 50:1, valve adjustment, filter, new pull cord assembly. The binds then smooth when pulling, cant get any rpms

Suggest you try:
1) Flywheel key could be sheared. It is located under the starter drive cup/armature coil magnets just beneath the recoil assembly.
2) starter drive cup rubbing on ignition coil
3) ignition coil failed due to rubbing causing heat failure
4) valve adjustment .002" clearance
5) valve lifter cam worn or brokent

How to change flywheel on bg86c stihl blower

  1. Remove fan housing
  2. Remove spark plug and install piston stop.
  3. Remove flywheel nut.
  4. If flywheel is struck on use a puller. Stihl uses a knocker type puller that screw on the crankshaft and tapped by a hammer. Be carefully not the damage the crankshaft stud or the bearing.
  5. To install reverse the above skipping item 4. Just make the flywheel engages the slot in the crankshalf. The flywheel nut is torque to 17 nM or 150 in lbs. Don't over torque the nut or damage will occur to the flywheel.

Stihl saw igtion timing

The ignition timing on all Stihl saws is, as far as I am aware, set by the key on the flywheel and not changeable. If there is a problem check the flywheel still has the key moulded in place in the tapered hole that goes onto the crankshaft . If it is missing you can get a replacement after market flywheel or cut yourself a 'woodruff key' of the same thickness as the groove on the crank shaft and cut a corresponding groove into the flywheel EXACTLY where moulded key used to be. Refit the flywheel with the woodruff key in place - possibly sticking it into the flywheel with 'Locktight'. Make sure the flywheel is tightened fully onto the taper of the crankshaft when refitting otherwise the grove in the crankshaft will get wrecked!

My still ms211 has no spark tried 2 different new plugs and still no fire what can I try next before bringing it in to the dealer.

Check the flywheel - remove it and check the woodruf key (the snall ridge inside the tapered hole where the crankshaft goes through is still there. That small ridge should go into the groove on the crankshaft and sets the timing of any spark. If it is missing or has been rounded off then you need a new flywheel.
Also check the wiring from the on/off switch and clean the terminals making sure the wire from the ignition module is not earthing anywhere.
If the wiring is ok and the flywheel is ok then the ignition module is at fault and needs replacing.

How do I gap ignition module on a TS350 Stihl concrete saw?

I thought the unit was under the flywheel, in this case there is no gap to set it just screws to the crankcase and you re fit the flywheel.

Weak spark hard start stihl 021

Check the pole gap on the ignition module to the flywheel magnets. Use a thin business card for a gauge. If it has the correct gap and you have tried a new spark plug, then the module itself is likely failing. Hope this helps!
