Not getting true depth reading on canon ball

When I set the depth at any feet it will stop at the no. set but the cannon ball is a lot deeper than it should be the units have been disconected for a long time please tell me how to reset the proper distance on the cable to the feet on the ft. sreen thank you. Tom

Sewer lines


Sewer lines can be 3 feet deep to 25-50 feet deep depending on location.

Residential sewer lines are generally 3-5 feet on flat yard depending on local code.
Deeper lines if house is on hill etc.
Local permit board might have drawings and general elevation.
Locate manhole near house to determine which direction main sewer line runs. Main sewer line will be 20 or more feet deep. However homes do not connect at that depth. Homes connect at shallower depth on a branch pipe, and then branch drains into the main sewer line.

The depth reads 98 to 100 feet.


I need more details about the problem you are having to be able to help you.
My best guess is that your unit will only disply data between 98 and 100 feet?
If thats the case check the range setting on your unit. It may be set to only display that range. You can set it to auto and it will automatically adjust the range from zero to just over the maximum depth it is currently reading.

Loses the depth after around 60 feet.


Is the transducer face clean? Fouling and barnacles can cause poor depth readings. Also, a low power output from transmitter or poor sensitivity of the receiver (both internal), or a broken transducer cable connection (usually accompanied by heavy noise being painted on screen). With your ear in the water, fairly close to transducer (6-10 ft., you should hear a clear tick-tick-tick sound as it transmits on a medium depth range.. No power adjustment is available in the menus, but the unit does transmit at a slower rate, with wider (stronger) pulses on the deeper ranges.

Eagle Cuda 168 has no display over 30 feet of water


Try good alakaline batterys(duracell or energizer)alot of those rechargables dont hold amperage and dont stay recharged long!!!! :)

Eagle 640c Fish Finder dosen't read corectly.


I had the same problem and got the transducer changed. It now works perfectly. That could be the problem you are having... bad transducer.

Depth sounder problem


If the transducer is mounted off of level, an error is introduced due to angle. It is a fixed percent offset, say 10%. so 10 feet reads 11 and 100 reads 110. There is an offset function to read depth below ducer, depth below keel, and depth below waterline, but these are fixed amounts in feet, not a percentage. Look at the transducer when it is operating, boat angle considered.
