Question about Fuji FinePix S700 Digital Camera
A possible cause could be the "cut off" switch for the xd picture card door. Check the plastic tabs on the door for damage. If it looks ok then open and close it a few times to see if the micro switch on the board is stuck. This is a cut off switch to prevent accidental removal of the picture card whilst the camera is powered up. The battery door may have 1 aswell so best to check this also. If there is damage then you maybe able to effect a repair to the plastic tab or replace the door. if the micro switch is damaged then you can bypass with either a solder bridge or wire. Have you put the batteries in correctly? - just an after thought....

I recharged batteries on 4 month old Finepix4000 and it wouldn't turn on. Yes, batteries in the right way round, uncorroded, terminals OK etc. No joy from Fuji site other than 'post it to us for repair'! Flagged the issue up on some forum I can't find again, but discovered the answer by trial and error.
Hold in the +/- button at the same time as pressing on switch. I guess thatre-sets it. Sometimes these buttons need to be held down for a set number of seconds for reset function to work.
