Reach inside and turn the drum. If it seems hard to turn you might have bac glides. Common probo for GE dryers. I recently replaced some giles on a dryer and took the time to photo the method for replacement.

You will need to check the drum rollers. Sounds like one or more may be failing. Here is a link to the part.

Cuts off makes noise

Sound like the dryer bearing or rollers are out. This would make it very hard for the dryer to start and run. You must pull the dryer drum out to access the parts. I'm sure you will see the problem right away once it is apart.

Dryer makes screaching noise as the drum spins once the dryer is running for 10 min or so. Sounds like the drum needs some WD40.

bad roller or pulley or depending on the dryer like frigidaire there is a bearing that goes on them and will make that noise, next time send brand name and model number

Makes squeaking noise after running for about 10 minutes

there are 2 drum rollers at the back of the dryer. shut off power, pull drum and you will see 2 rubber wheels. there is a little plastis triangle that keeps the roller in place. try spinning the rollers . they probably will not spin too freely. remove triangles ,inspect inside of roller the stainless steel bearing may have gunk on it try to clean off . also check shaft roller rides likewise remove any debri use a little rubbing alcohol to remove gunk. also check the idler roller that routes the belt for the same things. good luck

Dryer motor

if the motor buzzes when you push start then it is a bad motor.as long as the drum turns freely by hand.
