Question about Troy Bilt 5.5hp Self Propelled Mower
Engine is not firing at all. Gas is getting to the plug. Plug seems good. The cable on the blade control doesn't seem to move anything when I pull the handle down so I think the problem is with the blade control cable/kill switch. Any ideas on how to fix that or what I should see it doing when I pull the handle?
Well, If it worked last time...I would say it is the gas..moisture..
if not, then both ends of your cable. If nothing moves. it is either broke or came undone from lever by engine. I lean toward the gas, especially if it sat up all winter. (A new plug would be a good idea,Stranger things have happened) I had to do that to mine.

Make sure the blade and shaft can easily be moved by hand. First, remove the spark plug wire from the plug. Reach under the mower and see if the blade will turn or if something is stuck between the blade and the mower. Also remember that you have to hold the safety bar when you are starting the mower or the engine won't turn. It is possible that the cable from the safety bar to the engine brake has come loose. Follow the cable from the safety bar to the engine and make sure it is working. Also check whether the line from the gas tank to the engine is crimped?
