Question about Singer Sewing Machines

3 Answers

E4 message I was in the middle of a embroidery project, it was sewing very small, fast stiches. It stopped and said E4. I reset the machine, cleaned and oiled the machine, no sign of and thread near bobbin area. When I turn the hand wheel it has resistance and makes a grinding noise. How can I fix this? I own the Singer Futura CE 250

Frequently, the owner's manual has a section listing Error Codes, what they mean, and how to resolve them.

Take some unwaxed dental floss and run it through all of the pathways, (like you would be flossing your teeth) sometimes hidden threads are there. Also change your needle to a heavier one., clean the bobbin area with care, take off the top plate (two screws) sometimes there is all kinds of build up from fleece especially. Now take a q tip and dip it in rubbing alcohol run it around the bobbin area, then oil ask per your instruction book. Good luck

Contact singer customer service about the error code e4, the resistance could be a broken or damaged part.

SOURCE: Singer futura 250. while sewing the E4 code

Are you using bobbin thread? Is your thead new? Is themachine threaded correctly?

Make sure that when you thread the upper part the thread go under the circle that pull it.

Another thing is that when you hit the start button, pull the upper thread until the machine goes two or three times. It helps the bobbin thread to come up and the machine start sewing.I you leave it along the thread sometimes doesnot comes up and that is why the machine beeps.

I use this technique to make sure it doesnt beep and to cut the thread (the one at the beginning so it doesn't mess my design)

What type of machine is it? This is a code to tell you what problem there is and each machine is different. In your manual there should be this information to inform you of different codes like bobbin low or improper threading, etc. Tell me the machine type and I can probably tell you.

I get a E4 code whan I turn on machine and I can't figure out what is wrong.

Brother Computer Codes E1: Make sure the presser foot is lowered before sewing.

E2: You chose a stitch other than a buttonhole stitch or a bar tack stitch and you tried to sew with the buttonhole lever in the lowered position. Raise the buttonhole lever.

E3: If you selected the buttonhole or tack bar stitch and start to sew with the buttonhole lever raised, you will get the E3 code. Lower the buttonhole lever.

E4: You hit the reverse button while the bobbin winder shaft was moved over to the right. Move the bobbin winder shaft to the left.

E5: On automatic sewing machines, the start/stop button was pressed while the foot controller was plugged in. Unplug the foot controller if you are using the automatic function.

E6: This code tells you that the motor locked up because the thread is tangled. Untangle the thread, make sure the machine is threaded properly and that the proper tension is set before continuing.
