Question about Brother Sewing Machines

1 Answer

Messy looking bobbin not filling properly

I have a C55055PRW Project Runway model. I am new to sewing and this is my first machine. No matter how I try, my bobbin always comes out full of loops and loose thread. I notice that the thread is not spooling onto the bobbin from top to bottom- it just fills in the middle. I appear to be following the threading like the manual shows, but something isn't working right.

There are a couple of things that could be causing this that you can check. First, when taking the thread from the spool and wrapping it around the little metal button on the top of the machine, you need to make sure the thread is pulled up under the button (I always compare it to dental floss)- this will ensure the thread is held at the proper tension.

Next, how are you threading the bobbin itself? The thread should pass between the two disks and out through the hole at the top. Make sure you leave a tail of about 3-4 inches to hold on to.

Last, when you put the bobbin onto the spindle on top of the machine, you need to twist the bobbin until you hear it click into place. If you look at the spindle there is a little piece of metal that looks kindof like a paperclip- this piece needs to align with the little notch on the inner hole of your bobbin.

Once ce you are ready and have checked all these things, hold the tail of thread coming out of the bobbin straight up in the air while you press the pedal and begin to wind. Once you've wound a decent amount of thread on the bobbin you can snip the tail and continue winding.

i hope this helps you!

Testimonial: "Thank you, Jennable! I followed your suggestions carefully and voila, my last bobbin came out perfectly. When you're brand new to sewing, like me, sometimes even the instruction manual is hard to understand. :)"

I am having problems with the lower thread getting tangled. I have removed the bobbin and shuttle and cleaned, but it is making a weird rattling noise and still is not sewing properly. I don't see a w

Firstly, check if the bobbin is placed in correctly. It actually goes in with the thread counter clockwise.
Next, you might be simply using the wrong kind of thread. The cheap dollerama stuff is bound to get clogged. That's why good thread which has undergone factory quality control costs what it does and in terms of ease of sewing, is well worth its price.

Why Doesn't my sewing machine want to pick up the bobbin thread correctly?

if the bobbin case isn't turning properly are you sure you it in right.
Hold the lever on it out, slide the case on the spindle all the way and then release the lever. Also try a different length needle, it may be to long to allow a uniform stitch

My Brother Project Runway sewing machine's foot pedal is not working. No power. Is there a solution?

you can take the sewing machine and foot pedal to a repair shop and have them check the foot pedal and they can tell you if you need a new foot pedal or if that one can be fixed.

Thread tension will not adjust.

Check your setting, you have your stitches set too far apart. Wherever on your machine you see the zigzag stich you will see other stich settings, look at it until you see the right amount of stiches you want.
