Question about Amana NFW7200TW 3.5 Cu. Ft. Front Load Washer

1 Answer

E3 trouble code

I have an amana NFW7200TW-11 washer that during any rinse or spin cycle i get with any type of load i get E3 (weak motor?) checking the motor as described here there is no id on any of the connectors, I did find the red, white and blue wires on a connector the were larger than the rest that had to be to the motor, they checked at 3.0, 3.2, 3.5 would that little difference mean the motor is bad or on its way out?

Washer will not advane from wash to rinse

It sounds like, when the dial gets to the pump stage, the contact expected to pump the water out isn't making contact. That could be a burnt contact within the controller, or a loose wire to to the pump from that section of the controller. Once the weight, or water level was low enough from your pumping it out, the sensor that checks the level/pressure allowed the spin. The problem could be on the control board too.

Here's an incomplete schematic I found:

Amana front load load washer locked mid cycle won't unlock or run a cycle

There is a way to enter service mode by pressing a combination of keys on the front panel. This can be done at any time during any cycle. Once in service mode you can input a code to unlock the door.

The exact key press sequence varies by model. For example on the model NFW7200TW you press and hold simulatneously the chime and extra rinse keys for 3 seconds to enter service mode. Can you post your model number please?

E3 Error: Machine control is attempting to drive the motor but is not seeing any tach response. Visual check shows motor is not moving. (Locked, Hall Sensor fault). Replace the hall sensor.
The "hall" sensor is an internal circuit of the motor. It "tells" the machine control board, what the motor is doing, it's similar to a tachometer on the dashboard of a car. In your case, you want to do the resistance checks on the wires of the CN9 and CN8 connectors at the main control board in the front of the washer (it's easier and more indicative). Unplug the CN9 connector from the control board(red, white and blue wires) testing the pins inside the wire harness connector: from pin#1 /blue to pin#2 /white you should read 3 ohms resistance from pin#1 blue to pin#3/red, you should read 3 ohms resistance. from pin#2/white to pin#3/red, you should read 3 ohms resaistance. That will tell us the motor windings are damaged or not. At the CN8 connector, unplug the connector from the control board and insert the meter probes into the end of the wire harness connector; pin#4/orange to all other pins in the connector should have infinite resistance. pin#3/blue to pin#1/pink should have 4.7 ohms resistance. If you have these resistances, the motor and wiring are OK and you'll need the control board. If the resistances are not within 10% of the ones listed, you'll need to check the wiring harnesses and connections from the control board to the motor, and replace the motor if all checks OK.
Here is a link to the motor.

My amana front load washer wont spin and is showing an "nd" error message. what does this mean and how do i fix it?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. From what I understand the error code ND means “No Drain issue”. You’ll need to check for any restriction in pump assembly. It can also be due to a restricted drain hose or loose wire at pump. If after cleaning the drain hose the issue is not resolved then it means the pump has gone bad and unfortunately needs to be replaced. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

It's an over load error. Don't put alot of laundry in the drum.

Copy and Paste from the service manual

- Motor overloaded due to too much laundry (Nonsensing)
- The motor hall sensor terminal is not connected.
- PBA fault
- The motor driving error from the PBA is weak.
: Unstable relay operation, etc.

This error
occurs when an

NFW7200TW washer won't engage spin cycle

We had the same problem with the same model machine and solved it.

Our machine was a month old and started getting stuck at minute 8, so we arranged service calls through Amana customer service. Long story short, the first three service reps couldn't figure out the problem. Two of them called Amana's in-house tech support line and the Amana techs didn't know what the problem was. The fourth repairman was smarter than his predecessors. He called the Amana in-house tech line, spoke to a rep who didn't know what was wrong, and then called in again. He explained that. based on his experience, some in-house techs knew more than others. That turned out to be the case because on his next call-in to Amana, that rep knew exactly what the problem was and recommended replacing the main computer board module. The repair guy ordered and installed the part. The machine has been working perfectly for a month.
