Question about Akai LCT2785TA 27 in. LCD Television

My TV won't turn on and stay on!

I have an Akai tv and lately it has been having power on issues. I changed to source on it so I could watch a dvd and it turned off as soon as I changed the source and now it will turn on but doesn't stay on long enough for me to change the source back. It stays on for a second then turns off. It doesn't even stay on long enough to see what source it's on. What should I do to fix this problem? I really want my tv to turn on and stay on.

When I turn the tv on, it comes on in DVD mode and won't change over to the tv mode.

You have two ways to change it to TV Mode.
1 - remote control (source button) -cycle through the options.
2 - side of the unit (source button) -cycle through the options.

If the remote doesn't work, try using the button on the TV to change the source mode.
If this doesn't work, you have a problem with the TV.

Another option is to check your inputs. If you have the input for the DVD in the wrong place, that may also be causing you the inability to change from DVD mode.

I have a Akai DVDrw125. I've never been able to connect it between the cable signal in and the TV. It has S-Video in and S-Video out. The manual is worthless. I shouldn't have to switch the S-video cable...

The way I have it set up - cable box out to AKAI cable in, video and audio out of AKAI into TV via RCA. AKAI on channel 3, tv on RCA input. Change channels on Cable box, works fine. To watch a video, just put it in an hit play. Might have to change sources on AKAI if this is not working for u.

Sounds like a power supply issue. Does the power indicator light up? Can you hear a click when the power button is pressed?

Akai LCT2701AD - 27' LCD TV/DVD Player Combo

I don't know if I solved the problem. I find though if I turn the TV off and unplug it and then plug back in when I want to watch it - it works. I don't know why but it does. My remote still does not connect to the LCD but I have cable HDTV so chanel changes work from that control.

I am pretty ********** that it is only a year old and this has happened but what can you do? We live in a disposable world.

I was trying to get to your Premium assistance Plan from where I wrote my issue but I don't know where to pay or what to do on your site it keeps taking me all over.

Progressive scan

Approach 1: Try unplugging the DVD player from the wall for an hour, then plug it back in. It may or may not reset to the factory default settings, which might put it back to "interlaced" output.

Approach 2: When a DVD player is switched to progressive scan, it uses outputs different from the coax cable "TV out" and the COMPOSITE outputs (often yellow, white and red RCA jacks. If you have the proper cables, you can connect them to both the DVD player and the TV, then cycle through the AKAI TV's "source" settings to switch the TV to the new cable input location.

For example, if the DVD player has "component" outputs (marked Y, Pb, and Pr) hook up RCA plug cables between those jacks and the AKAI TV's Y, Pb, and Pr jacks. Connect the Y to Y, the Pb to Pb, and the Pr to Pr, of course. The LCT3285TA has two sets of these jacks. Either will do, but note if you use YPbPr1 or YPbPr2. Once this is done, push the source button on the side of the TV (or on the TV's original remote) until it shows YPbPr1 or (...2 if that's what you connected). If the DVD player is on, you should now see the DVD menu or the picture from the DVD. Now you can use the DVD remote to switch back from progressive to interlaced video. The picture may go blank at this step.

Now push the TV's source button again until you see "3" or whatever channel you had been using in the upper left of the TV screen. You should see the DVD output picture (menu) again. Back to normal.

If your DVD player doesn't have YPbPr connections, it may have a HDMI or DVI jack.
The AKAI TV also has a HDMI input, you *could* get and HDMI cable (or DVI to HDMI cable if the DVD player doesn't have HDMI), hook it up, then cycle through the TV's source inputs until you see the HDMI in the upper left... in the manner I've just described.

Final Note: The progressive scan output of your DVD will actually give you a much better picture on your AKAI TV than its interlaced output. To take advantage of that, you'll have to hook up YPbPr or HDMI cables between player and TV and switch sources when you want to watch DVDs instead of TV programs. You may need additional cables to send the stereo audio output from the player to the TV for the progressive source hookup.

Akai model pdp4249g

Hello drifter,The design of the tv enables the auto search to detect any input signal you have selected. It could be TV (off air, video signals etc) so just switch on whatever inputs to the akai plasma befote you switch the Akai plasma on and let it do the work for you. just relax and watch the tv. recap 1. switch on the input eg video deck, DVD, VCD, or satellite dish. 2. switch on your AKAI PLASMA and 3. wait for the akai to search for your input signals. TRy this simple procedure and if it doesnt work just post back the message. The DON

Akai DHT300 screen rolling

The picture is rolling because there is no sync signal in the composite output. Are you using the RCA jack or the S-video output? Is there another small TV you could hook up for a test to see if the problem appears there? If it does, then the Akai has the issue and needs to be examined further. If not, the TV input may have an issue. You didn't say what the TV is but there is the possibility the video input is looking for external sync from the DVD but that's a bit of a stretch. Can you feed a different source into the video input of the TV to see if you get the same result? Hope this helps.
