Lec fridge-freezer TF5089 faulty door light switch - how do I remove the switch from the fridge to check it?

Fridge light remains on even when door is closed. Tried to remove door switch to check it, but it is very difficult to prise out. I get it partially out but afraid to force it more for fear of damaging it. Advice needed on how to remove it without breaking it - thanks.

Prying it out is the only way I know of. When you get it partially out you may be able to get hold of it with waterpump pliers or regular slip-joint pliers adjusted for a wide grip, and pull it the rest of the way out. They are made to be removed this way, so it shouldn't be damaged. If you push in the button and the light remains lit your refrigerator section may not be getting cold, because a bad door switch can send out a signal that the refrigerator door is open, in which case the freezer may not be blowing cold air into the refrigerator section. The door switches are fairly cheap online, especially compared to a service charge.

Thanks for that. While waiting for help I browsed the internet and found a photo of the door switch that showed its spade terminals to be on the top surface, so I had another go at removing it by inserting a thin steak-knife blade under the base of the switch and, with considerable force was able to get the switch out. I now know that it has a 'sprung' plastic catch over its lower surface that should be released by inserting a thin screwdriver blade to compress it and allow the switch to be withdrawn. Testing the switch proved it was not faulty though, and the fridge light stayed on with the switch disconnected! :(. I've now removed the bulb and the fridge stays cool, but I've yet to resolve the fault - the main one being that the fridge-freezer shuts down after one cycle and needs the defrost timer (which is not faulty) to be manually "clicked" to restart it. Very frustrating!

you have more than likely ruined the control board on the refrige,a dryer and refrigerator should each be on their own dedicated circuit, they use an enormous amount of current to start, and even if one is running and the other starts thats enough to trip even a 30 amp receptacle, and furthermore extension cord use on these types of appliances even a large gauge cord i.e. 12 ga. that will carry 20 amps is not even a good idea because of voltage drop,as this causes motors to draw excessive current and over heat the motors and reduce appliance efficiency too

Refridgerator beeps and upper section not working

First, the Samsung Refrigerator is the only fridge that has one compressor, but two different evaporators to operate the freezer and the refrigerator separately. Thus, you can have the bottom freezer working fine, while the fridge part will not.
The reason your fridge is not working is probably a faulty door switch in the refrigerator. The switch is malfunctioning, telling the computer that the door is open. Therefore you hear the door alarm go off in intervals, even though the door is actually closed. If the computer registers an open door, it will not pump cool air into the refrigerator, as that would be a waste of energy. All you need to do is replace the door switch. Until you get a new one, you can temporarily fix your fridge by simply removing the old switch altogether. You will not have any light in the fridge, however, it will cool again just fine until you are able to install the new switch (a simple plug-in contraption, by the way).
Hope this helps.

Samsung RB1855SW won't stop beeping and fridge malfunctioning

Thanks so much for the advice. I just gently pried the door sensor switch on my Samsung RB1855SL out with a butter knife and then pulled out the electrical connection and it fired up right away. It looks like some orange juice seeped in and corroded it. What a relief to have the fridge working again, not to mention to not have to listen to the beeping.

Freezer has frost building and the refridgerator is too warm.

make sure the evaporator fan is working, open door and push switch in if fan works make sure opening from freezer to fridge is not blocked. if door was removed make sure light in fridge is shuting off if temp in fridge is in the 50 degree range your light switch is not being deactivated check spacers between door and hinge . sometimes when door is removed a spacer will fall on floor and light switch is not hitting door
