Problems downloading from camera using windows 7 - error message say windows XP required - is it possibel to upgrade software to be compatible with windows 7

If your OS is Win7 64 bit, then incompatibility must be occur because Windows XP use 32bit Operating System and driver software usually only special for each OS (x32 or x64). About upgrading the software, how will you upgrade while you can't even install the basic software in your PC ? The choice you have is find another driver that compatible with your OS, you can search via Google, and I hope you are lucky enough to get it available or even free to download.
If you still want to upgrade, then the Windows7 is the one to be upgraded so you can use XP Mode system. You must have Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate to run Windows XP Mode. You can visit for details.

Hope this help and be kind to rate please.

I have replaced my XP Computer for a Windows 7 and downloaded the software for my JVC Everio HDD Camcorder GZ-MG36EKM.However a message onscreen says that the camcorder software is incompatible with my new...

If your Windows7 work in x64 operating system, of course it would be incompatibility if you use driver for XP in it, since Windows XP use x32 system, that's where the problem come from (I've faced the same problem sooo many times for several software) . You need to check your OS first (push Windows and Pause Break button together to see it) and make sure which one is your OS, 32 or 64 bit OS? If you have 64 bit OS, for any software that you want to download from internet, you must choose that support 64 bit OS. Some of x32 software still installable in Win7 64 bit, but yes, other software need us to spend some bucks to download them.
If you upgrade your Windows7 you may use XP Mode that allow you to install XP driver or software in Win7 based PC, but once again, ITS NOT FREE !!

Hope this help and be kind to rate please.

Can I put the Cannon PowerShot SD900 software on a computer with Windows 7?

Clearly the best solution is to use a Windows 7 edition of your software, but as you're asking this question I think it's safe to assume that you don't have that option.

If it's not Win7 software then you may be able to use it via the excellent Compatibility Wizard built into Win7. This "fools" software designed for older versions of Windows into behaving as if it's running on an earlier OS. It's not always successful, but the chances of success increase if your software is designed to run on more recent platforms like XP and Vista.

Good luck, and I hope that my answer will assist you to get your software running. Please take a moment to rate my reply.

When I bought camera I had Windows XP. New computer has Vista.

So you now have Vista, but the software will not load...

If you have Windows Vista (32-bit), click this link and download the "HP photosmart software and drivers" package. Install by directions.

If you have Vista 64-bit, use this link. Download the "HP photosmart software and drivers" package. Install by directions.

I hope this helps you, don't forget the "FixYa" rating if this solves your questions!

By connecting the camera to a computer with the provided USB cable,
images on a card can be transferred to the computer. Some OS's (operating
systems) may need a special setup when connecting to the camera for the
first time. Follow the chart below. For details on the procedures in the chart,
refer to the “Reference Manual” on the CD-ROM and the “Software
Installation Guide” (included in the CD-ROM package).
Identifying the OS
Windows 98/98 SE
(Second Edition)
Windows 2000
Mac OS 9.0 - 9.1/OS X
*OS 8.6: See below.

Connecting the camera to a computer using the provided USB cable
Installing the USB
driver for Windows 98
Confirming the computer recognizes the camera
Downloading image files
Disconnecting the USB cable

Even if your computer has a USB connector, data transfer may not function correctly if
you are using one of the operating systems listed below or if you have an add-on USB
connector (extension card, etc.).
● Windows 95/NT 4.0
● Windows 98/98 SE upgrade from Windows 95
● Mac OS 8.6 or lower (except Mac OS 8.6 equipped with USB MASS Storage support
1.3.5 installed at the factory)
● Data transfer is not guaranteed on a home-built PC system or PCs with no factory
installed OS.
You can view images using: graphics applications that support the JPEG
file format (Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop, etc.); Internet browsers (Netscape
Communicator, Microsoft Internet Explorer, etc.); CAMEDIA Master
software; or other software. For details on using commercial graphics
applications, refer to their instruction manuals.
