SOURCE: Left Deck Door Stuck Shut on Cassette Deck

The cassette mechanism has a large gear that rotates to different positions for the different modes. On time around is a play - stop cycle. It is stuck in one position and won't come around to the stop spot. Need to take the cover off and help it to turn to get the cassette out. Then figure out if something is wrong preventing it from turning or if the wheel driving it is the problem. They are all a little different so this is where your mechanical apptitude comes in.
By the way, you'll figure out right away they don't intend these things to be fixed.
Hope Ya Fix It.

SOURCE: Chevy Cavalier Cassette Player

The post above mine, the member is correct regarding a new cd player, a cassette adapter will play only so good no matter what you add to your existing system, try a cd changer, not expensive at all and you can add it simply without compermising too much quality.

Cleaning the Radio may fix it but what it sounds like is there is a lever inside that got jammed and you have to take the player apart to get it to work again.. Cheaper to get a new one

How can i clean my cassette player? is there a tool or something?

if you want to clean the heads, do so with a non-oil based alcohol such as ethyl alcohol. the easiest and best way to clean out the entire unit is to buy an 'audio cleaner' tape. it looks just like a regular cassette but it doesn't play music, it actually goes through the system and (almost magically) cleans up the inside.

Car casette player won't accept cassettes. I put a cassette in and it spits it right back out.

Your casette player must have something lodged in it that's why it spits the casette tape back out. If you are able to, try dislodging the player from your dashboard. Shake it and if there's something noisy inside, chances are that's your culprit. Try to get it out by shaking the player while keeping the casette tape door open - like getting coins from a piggy bank. :)

Hope this helps!

Car Cassette Adapter keeps flipping from one side to another

This is a faulty firmware problem in the player. It may have a faulty internal capacitor that is screwing up the player. You can use a capacitor tester to find faulty capacitor or replace with a cd player

Since no repair parts or repair manuals are made available to the consumer by GM then you must remove the deck from the dash and send it in for repair at a factory approved repair center.

1995 Saab 900S Left speaker doesn't work when using tape player

sounds like the cassette adapter has a bad channel, or didn't fully seat into place. Try removing and re inserting, to play the other side of the adapter if the wires will allow it. Then auto reverse the cassette deck to allow a different portion of the cassette head to be used for the signal. Those cassette adapters are poor quality, and put alot of time on the mech.
