Can not turn wireless

Normally in IBM laptops there is a switch to turn ON the wireless, but if that's not turning it ON then you may check it in the control panel.

Depending upon the operating system you have, click on following things
Start
control panel
network connecitons(XP) or network & sharing connection (Vista/Win7)
then make sure that the wireless adapter is Enabled
Right click and enable it.
then try to connect to the wireless n/w again

in case the following steps does not help, reply back with some more information about the issue.
How it stopped working
when was the last time it was working fine
did you installed anything in the computer before it stopped working?
is there any switch on the laptop for Wi-Fi connectivity.
which operating system are you using

You may also log on to HNetworking.com in case you want some tech to take the remote access of your computer and help you with the wireless connectivity issue.

I am looking for a netwrok controller for my thinkpad r52

You have a PCMCIA and a USB slot so you could use either often the PCMCIA wireless cards with an aerial give a better reception if you need a ethernet cable controller than pcmcia may be better quite a few makes to choose from d-lnk, netgear, etc
I assume your PC does not have a network adapter - most do heres a link to the R52 driver site http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-58931.html A set of user manuals are here http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=/product.do?template=%2Fproductpage%2Flandingpages%2FproductPageLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo&brandind=10&familyind=215918&machineind=0&modelind=0&partnumberind=0&subcategoryind=0&doctypeind=8&doccategoryind=0&operatingsystemind=49979&validate=true
check to see if you have an adapter Press the Windows key (bottom left of the keyboard} and at the same time press the R key, now in the search box that appears - type devmgmt.msc look for network adapters , click on the + sign and then see what adapters you have - if you have anything with 802.11 or wifi then you have a wireless adapter - if you have an ethernet or 10/100 listed then you have an ethernet controller - if you have any X or ! or ? then you may need to download the driver from the link above NOTE the wireless can be turned off via a switch or FN +f? key

Wireless Internet connectivity not working.

Does it recognize your wireless network?
I your wireless switched on on the laptop, most laptop have a separate small switch to swicth on/off the wireless option, indicated by a small antenna with some waves.
Does it recognise any wireless network at all?
Try connect to a hotspot or unsecured network to see if that works. Double check all settings for your own network in your router and your laptop. 1 typo in a security password can be enough to be unable to connect.
