Question about HP Compaq Presario C769US Notebook
I have a Compaq Presario c769us. The computer does not recognize my tv. I'm going from s-video to a/v in the tv. I've tried different tv's and different cables. I've tried using the intel tv wizard that came with my laptop and that does nothing but say it doesn't recognize the tv. I've tried the fn/f4 button method which is supposed to send instantly to external display's but I don't get so much as a flicker. I've tried starting the computer with the tv attached. I've upgraded all the software and bios, and contacted hp/compaq and other supposed support lines to no avail.
Thanks for that clarification; yes that does make a difference because unless the video on your laptop supports it (which most don't) that won't work. It has to go into an s-video input or a device that can convert the signal. As it is now, you're hooking up a cable that would work if your video on your laptop could convert the signal but it can't so you're not getting any signal. If you had a TV that had an S-video input then it would work like a charm.

Actually mor than likely its just a setting upon your computer. I've had this same problem. Drove me nuts... Just mess with the settings on your tv wiz.
