Question about McCulloch FHH18A Electric Pressure Washer

Open Question

Loose inlet valve leaking on FHH18A

My 1 1/2 year old McCullough FHH18A pressure washer has a significant leak at the inlet valve (immediately adjacent to the garden hose connection). This is not a leak at the hose connection, but rather it is because the whole inlet valve is loose. I'm assuming that this is affecting pressure, and it definitely creates puddles while the unit is running. Can this be tightened? How? Ideas?
Also, I misplaced the User's Manual document. Can I find an electronic copy online?

SOURCE: fhh18a water flows INTO the tanks during operation.

There should be a ball and spring in the valve where you attach the soap suction hose.

SOURCE: I have a broken plastic inlet valve for the water

May I suggest replacing this plastic part for metal parts (parts for 16 year old unit most likely not available) available thru www.pwmall.com or other pressure washer parts houses. Look thu parts listings and purchase adapters with correct thread /fitting type for your application. They will assist you with your purchase. As an example, view the following link for adapters.
http://www.pwmall.com/s-20873-twist-connect-couplings.aspx

Northern tools also has a very good selection of fittings to solve your problem (Northern tools Co are in most larger cities). www.northerntool.com

Good luck

All outflow stops when I start the motor on my Troy-bilt 2600 pressure washer. What's up?

Could also be crack/leak in HP pump. If it were left in cold weather without antifreeze, I'd check there first. Part + labor might warrant new washer if more than a couple years old.
Sorry.

You gave a very close solution yourself for the problem. But other leakages can cause such symtoms.Forexample a leaking head or a leaking chemical inlet. These can be caused because the spill valve (pressure control valve) is stuck. When this valve stucks it will leave a micro switch ON. So the machine keeps working with the gun closed. This will in turn creat internal pressure and damages the head, valves and chemical non-return and even damage outlet hose. So besides fixing the leakages you must check and service the spill valve. I often replace the spill valve. One must also checks if the micro switch is faulty. Now very important that what you mentioned that the machine cycles at one minute intervals, with trigger closed...this is most probably always the spill valve fault. If you open machine you see a place where there is a wire..this belongs to the micro switch...under you find the spill valve. Intake and suction valves may now also have a fault. Also there are systems with non-return valves at the machine outlet. You have to tackle by elimination. Fix the leakage..then tackle spill valve and micro switch.

Unit is leaking. Just bought it used, runs fine but leaks water out the bottom of the motor. Can this be repaired ? Is there a gasket or o-ring or something to replace ?

it might be the pcv(positive crankcase ventilation) valve. Go to a parts store and ask for a new valve($5-$10) and also ask where it is. It's usually right on top in the back of the engine where you described. If the hose is all cracked then you might have to get a custom one from the dealer because many stores no longer carry hose strong enough to be used here.

Wow, this washer is very old. im sure the drainage hoses will need to be inspected or replaced asap. i would also check the pump housing for cracks as well. make sure the water inlet valve assembly ins in good condition as well. Replace any hose or valve that is leaking or, damaged.

Puddle under 1 yr old washing machine hours after it is finished

Sounds like either the gasket on the inlet is leaking or not tight or the solenoid housing is cracked causing the leak. When its in use the pressure from the line is realased when the solenoid is opened letting water in. When not in use the solenoid stays closed allowing pressure from the line to build causing the gasket to leak. Check your gaskets, and solenoid housing for leaks and then check to make sure your water pressure is not set too high.

Bosch Axxis WFL 2060 washer leaks

Hi. Check the doorseal by lifting the folded lip which faces toward the drum opening. Use a torch and carefully examine the doorseal. It may have a small hole which is hard to see at first.
If door seal is ok remove top of machine and check inlet valve. Turn power off and with your hand examine the inlet water valve. If it feels damp on the solenoid then it leaks from there and finds its way around to the front of the machine though the frame work. This leak happens due to to much water pressure at your laundry taps. If so install a pressure reducing valve before the water inlet hose and replace the water inlet valve in the machine as it is now faulty.
