Open Question

O2 sensors ONLY WHEN COLD START.after 200 yds and i stop at junction, engine goes into limp mode. engine light comes on. I turn off ignition. restart and ok. but if I have to stop again befor engine has warmed up. same thing. but once warm and if I did not have to stop for something I would not know I had a problem

Fuse # 21 blows when igtion turned on.what causes this?


Whatever accessory or system is powered by fuse #21 has a short. It only blows when the ignition is turned on because no power goes to the fuse with the ignition off. If your transmission is in limp in mode, you need to have it checked. You don't mention make, model, or year vehicle, but your car may have a separate transmission control module (TCM); in any case see if you have any codes that indicate if there is a problem with the transmission. The O2 sensors have nothing to do with the transmission being in limp in mode, and I doubt that they are connected directly to the fuse. Most O2 sensors get their power through the PCM.

You can't. The computer knows it is there and also knows if you try to wire around it. The electrical output from the O2 sensor is used to control the other engine controls. If you bypass the O2 sensor, the motor turns on the check engine light and goes into limp mode which makes the car run pretty bad

this is just a list.
crank sensor ( gone will not start engine )
cam sensor (gone will run low revs no timing limp mode)
EGR ( depending on are and ecu settings engine will not run or limp mode activated)
Knock sensor ( engine limited if censored)
MAP/MAF ( Ruff running or will not start/limp mode)

LIMP MODE HOME


The O2 Sensors need to be changed at 100,000 miles,
before they fail & you get a MIL Lamp on your dash

Just the front (2) closest to the engine, at the converter inlet

The ETC Failsafe, is most likely bad COP ignition coils
Have to check for cylinder misfire count with a professional
scan tool in Mode #06,unless you want to spend a few days
walking a new coil from one cyl to the next

Always provide V6 or V8 in your question & lots of detail

And do you have starting issues during cold start. Ooh does this model have a ureurea system in it? An addtive to clean the catalytic system which needs to be service once a year...

Any time the transmission goes into the limp mode, it generates an error code that tells what caused it to go into limp mode. It could be something as simple as a loose connection on a sensor for the transmission computer. The code would explain which sensor was sending the correct signal.
By restarting the car you are resetting the transmission computer, clearing the limp condition.

I have 8000 miles on my Tucson check engine light came on at start up this morning...gas cap is tight...no problems?????


there are over 200 reasons for the check engine light to come on, the gas tank cap is just one of them, this light and the problem that turned it on are most likely covered under the federal emission warranty, contact the dealer. see trouble code list below for some of the probelems that cause a check enghine light.

1996 dodge avenger when cold, the transmission go in limp mode


Is the vehicle's Check Engine Light on? It should briefly light up when you turn the key on (before you start the engine) to show that the light is working correctly. Based on what I've read I believe you should have one or more trouble codes.
