SOURCE: how to clean after an oven fire

Cheryl,
If you can't scrape the plastic off then heating it up to soften it is about your only choice short of putting it back in self clean with a fan in the nearest window blowing outside to evacuate the smoke. Depending how bad it is and how cold it is where you live, you might even try freezing if off. Get it as cold as possible and see if the cold makes it easier to chip off. As far as the element, I suggest turning the oven on and letting it smoke and burn clean. Shouldn't be a very long process since the element will get hot so fast the plastic will drip off right away.
Hope that helps... Brian

Which one has more heat resistant: Granite or Silestone? Explain?

Planning to refurbish your kitchen, Now-a-days, a wide range of choices for kitchen countertops are available in the market, which make you to choose the perfect one. In case if you are looking to select granite or Silestone for your kitchen worktops. Then, as per my knowledge both are popular choices, but he Granite is a very durable natural stone with a high aesthetic value. It is heat and scratch resistant but also porous and therefore possible to stain; it needs periodic maintenance. Where as the quartz used in countertops and flooring is a man-made combination of resins and crushed quartz. The resulting surface is non-porous, meaning it is more stain resistant than granite and requires less maintenance overall. My oven has a self cleaning mode, do I need to wipe the oven out or do anything else before I start the cycle?

Yes, just do a quick wiping of the interior of the oven. Don't leave any pans in oven. Take out oven racks. You can leave racks in but they will discolor permanently. Better to take racks out and use Carbona Oven rack and grill cleaner. Buy at Amazon or Ace Hardware. Put racks in the bag,add cleaner, wait overnight and rinse shiny clean! After oven self clean is done, wipe interior again. It may look somewhat like gray ash

Kenmore below oven floor elements burns off porcelain

They say you need to make sure you wipe up all the mess off the oven base before you do self cleaning. Don't scrub it, just use a paper towel to clean up all the crumbs as these burn and cause excess heat. However I have not seen one of these panels that wasn't burnt. It just doesn't work good.

Panasonic steam convection microwave ceramic floor cracked and a hole melted into the ceramic field.

This was probably a manufacture defect right from the begining which would explain what happened. My guess there was a very small crack and quickly developed into serious problem.

There is always a yellowish staining on the top part of the oven door, door handle and vents after self cleaning. I've tried bleach, sos, Mr. Clean Magic pads and it barely removes it. What do you...

the yellowish "staining" is a result of a bad seal. Since it is heat changing the color of the surface, you would probably have to do some damage to remove the discoloration, either like a soft abrasive scrub or other, bleach will not fix that.
Sounds like the cleaning cycle could be too long or otherwise too hot for too long? Perhaps a wipe down with a damp cloth to the interior of the oven prior to a self clean to remove any loose material may help.. Also if there are any other vents for this oven (say under one of the burners of the stove top) make sure they are kept free and clear of any blockage of air flow..
Best regards
Ck

Error code F5:E7 Can not get the oven door unlocked or reset this code. What do we do?

Beginner on forumn, don't have any manual in front of me on f5:e7. Sounds like a conventional oven problem, oven door locking. If in fact is some form of conventional heat oven (convection?), I had similar problem with a GE range, it flashed some kind of code seams like which I later interpreted by using owner's manual that explained codes. In my case it was in "cleaning mode" and you can't turn that off unless you unplug or turn breaker off, that puts it back to default mode with nothing running. I simply tried out the self cleaning feature, from there the oven went to full on heat and oven door locked unexpectedly. I learned stays locked till cycle finishes and oven cools, which is some time after the oven automatically switches off, said that it can be a couple of hours before you hear a...click, and now door opens (note to self, don't ever do that again).

Model SVD48600 door won't open after clean cycle. Fan also locked on. Powered off overnight; no change: "Locked" still displayed

That is a very complicated unit for the average handyman. It has electronic controls and a relay board, sensors and a locking mechanism. First thing I would check is the locking mechanism and the switch on it. Do this first and let me know if you find one of the switches defective or shorted. While there, check the light switch which is bi-functional being used for the light and also to tell the ERC the door is opened or closed.

Jenn-Air self-cleaning ovens have a special setting that allows you to clean the oven without chemicals or scrubbing. The oven heats to a temperature higher than used for cooking. The intense heat burns food spills and other residue off oven's inner surfaces.

Instructions
1. Remove the broiler pan and any utensils to prevent them from being damaged. Take out the oven racks, since the high heat might discolor them.
2. Wet a cleaning cloth or sponge with hot water and detergent. Wash off splatters or spills from areas that won't be affected by the cleaning process, including the oven door liner and the oven's front frame. Wipe up any excess grease or spills on the oven floor.
3. Close the oven door and press the "clean" pad on the unit's touch pad.
4. Enter the amount of cleaning time. For example, two hours is appropriate for a lightly soiled oven, three for average and four for heavily soiled. Cleaning should start immediately. The oven will remain locked during the cycle.
5. To delay cleaning, hit the "stop time" pad and enter the desired stop time. For example, if it is 9 p.m. and you want the oven to clean for three hours starting at 10 p.m., key in the numbers 1,0,0.
6. While the cleaning function operates, use the scouring pads to wash the oven racks and other utensils. Once the cycle ends and the oven unlocks and cools, you can use a damp cloth to pick up any loose or burnt debris inside. Replace the racks, broiler pan and utensils.

This is usually due to grease or food particles stuck to the inside of the oven or stuck on or behind the waveguide cover.

When it gets heated repeatedly, it chars and eventually carbonizes.

Unless it sparks or is cracked or broken, it should be okay, but if you notice it getting darker over time, I'd order a new one.

You can order Sharp parts from Tritronics at http://www.wehaveparts.com

For other brands, you can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383
