The toner sensor needs to be replaced or at the very best you have toner spilled inside or a bad cartridge.

SOURCE: Ricoh MP 2851 has toner

I believe that you closed all the doors properly...

Well, this may happen because off several things.

I can give you some tips (by steps):

- First you have to make sure that the toner bottle spins (if that doenst happen it could be a faulty clutch).
- Than you need to see if the tonner supply (the green handel that you place the toner) are good.
- After that you just have the TD sensor. This sensor is on the Developement Unit.

Well, i am just giving you a clue. If you do not have thecnical knoledge i advise you to call your provider.

See you, And good luck

What is code F2-40in a MX-M264N Copier?

F2-40 = ATC sensor abnormality ,
your toner is depleted , or is unable to replenish toner level in developer after X amount of time . a simple crop 14 should clear the error , but if it persists then you have bigger issues , try to check developer unit gears if they still function as they should, and check your toner level, and check your toner motor,

and if all is said and done try another toner cartridge, but be aware that the F2-40 usually fries the chip on the toner cartridge (not always though)

This can be caused by a number of reasons. Continuous run of high density prints temporarily depletes the toner supply. The rest requires a service man because needs diagnostics routines and checking of the toner supply of the developer tank

Check your toner. It may be related - some toners tend to lose printing quality as they near their depletion.

Well, if the toner light is on, you're probably out of toner and the only reason it ran, was because it was low but not completely depleted.

Try new toner drum off of Ebay or Amazon for the best prices for your brother printer.

Light copies

If you were stretching the toner cartridge, you may have depleted the toner in the machine, if your machine has a toner button on the control panel, press it and let it run its course, if it doesn't try running a few blank copies and see if this helps. The machine only adds a little each copy, if it is depleted, it will take some time to catch up as there is toner being used on each copy, but blank copies don't use toner but the machine will add at its preset level.

Failing this it may very well need a spring clean up.

Hope this is of some help.
