If the drive is new and you do not see it as a drive in my computer in may need to be initilized and/or partitioned.
Click Start, then Right click on My Computer and click Manage, then click Disk Management. See if your SATA drive shows up in the list. If it does, right click in the box on the left to see your options. if it needs to be initialized choose it in the list. Then right click on the larger box on the right and choose Partition as the option and follow the instructions given.

File size limit for Buffalo HD 250 GB Hard Drive backup

The file is too large meaning that the size of that SINGLE file is too large. Your hard disk is probably formatted to a FAT32 file system, this results in a maximum of 4gb PER FILE maximum transfer. What you could do is archive it into a few parts using winrar and then moving it onto the disk, and when you need the file just extract the archive. Your problem isn't the total free space, it's the size of that file chunk.

Can I replace my gateway T-6836 laptop 250 gb hardrive

Yes, it can be upgraded for a larger drive. The important specs to know are the physical size and the interface. The size that this computer needs is the 2.5 inch and the interface is the SATA. These are the typical size and interface used today so finding a drive that fits should not be a problem.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, but if your hard disk fell down and now isn't regognized by the computer the most possible situation is that the disk is destroyed.

Was sent my old internal harddrive after a warranty service to make a backup from and i want to know what connection i need to make it usb. 5K250-250

you can purchase a huge range of drive interfaces from your local computer store. Make sure you get an interface, or USB external case to suit the drive interface ( PATA or SATA ) plug the ting in and connect to your pc through a usb port... then I would copy the entire drive contents onto another drive..

It wont start.. what is sata?

You have to make sure first, what is your HDD type? is it IDE or SATA (Serial ATA).

Check it out: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-sata-or-serial-ata.htm

You should plug the data cable, to your hard disk. Remember, there's no way to plug your SATA cable to IDE HardDisk because the connector are not the same (I don't know if there's a converter between it).

So, make sure it first. If it IDE, find IDE data Cable, and make sure it plugged to your MainBoard and Hard Disk. Do the same procedure if it is SATA Hard Disk, only this time you should connect the SATA cable from your mainboard to your SATA Hard Disk.

Windows 2000 advanced Server does not support Seagate 250 GB Hard Drive.

I am inclined to think that this would be a problem with the jumper settings limiting the size of the drive.
I can't offer anything more than that, sorry. Hope it will help a bit.
