HP 530 won't see hard drive

Are you sure there is no usb / CD in the computer?

Try pressing F8 when the computer boots and select the HDD as the boot device.

If this works, you'll need to reset the boot order in the CMOS / BIOS.

Computer is booting from a non-bootable source

Many times this error is caused when the computer is attempting to boot from a non-bootable CD-ROM. First verify that no CD is in the computer, unless you are attempting to boot from a CD.

I got a message that reads Non-System disc or disc error replace and strike any key when ready. What do I do?

Hi,

Here the reason why youre getting the error message

Remove the non-system disk from your boot device. For example, remove the non-system disk from the floppy drive or the CD-ROM drive.

Change your computer's boot sequence in you Bios. Make sure that you select a device that has boot files (or operating system files) installed.

If you start your computer from a hard disk drive, install a bootable operating system (such as Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7) on the drive.

Thanks for using Fixya

My e-machine w3410 gives me a disk boot error insert disk and hit enter what does that mean

You probably have a non-bootable disc in the CD drive - when the computer powers up, your BIOS's first boot device is probably the CD drive and since it has a non-bootable disc in it, it can't boot. Remove the disc and re-boot your computer.

I visualise this msg on pc 'non disk system error or disk error'

This error is caused by the boot device (hard drive, DVD, etc) not having the required Operating System files. You may need to find a different Boot Device, like maybe a DVD, with the boot files on it. Boot from DVD and reinstall HD files.

Non emulation booting problem with FSE amilo m6300

The message is indicating that the CD in the drive is NON-bootable. You may want to try a different bootable CD.

You can also ensure the CD is completely clean and has no scratches on it. Windex and a soft cloth has always done me well to ensure the "Shiny" data side of the CD is free from dirty/smudges/scratches and of course make sure it is in the drive correctly.

If still no luck, you can try resetting the BIOS defaults and see if the drive will boot then.

Help plz

Does it say to Press a key to boot from CD? Usually, some drivers are non-emulating the drive. Press a key when it says that message, it should boot, if not. Reply back to me for more detailed help.

Boot cd-rom type:cd-rom/non-emulation booting

No, it's because Microsoft changed the way boot CDs work with SP2. You need an old CD (Windows XP SP1). I had the same problem here, notebook without floppy, it won't boot from the newer XP version CDs (SP2 or SP3) - but an old SP1 CD works!
(Those were all original Microsoft CDs, and the SP2 / SP3 CDs boot just fine on several other PCs I tested. It's just that some old hardware has a problem with the boot mode used on newer Windows CDs.)
