How can I stop unnecessary programs from starting at Start-Up

Try this.
click start then control panel. then go to admin tools. under admin tools click system configuration then click start up. uncheck whet you do not wish to run.
or
you can click start then in the run box type msconfig.exe

Fix my slow laptop for free


Make sure you have enough empty space on discs
Open task manager and close any unnecessary processes running in background
Delete all unnecessary applications
Upgrade hardware (RAM, CPU, graphics card, etc.)
Uninstall unnecessary programs (Games, crapware, toolbars, etc.)
Click start>Run.. Type msconfig>enter>Start Up. Uncheck the boxes for the programs that you think you may not use often
If it didn't helps you then simply get the system utility program like PC Fresher to resolve your problem

Very slow and freezes up

My home page is fine but the position on the computer is wrong..it is half way down the screen and I dont know how to move it up


Start your Pc in safe mode and follow these steps
Click start>Run.. Type msconfig>enter>Start Up. Uncheck the boxes for the programs that you think you may not use often
Open task manager and close any unnecessary processes running in background
Delete all unnecessary applications

Uninstall unnecessary programs (Games, crapware, toolbars, etc.)
If this didn't help you then simply get the Reginout to fix all corrupt registry entries and temp files which made your system slow

Try to start your window in safe mode by press and hold F8 keys until you get Advanced Options menu screen.Use the arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, and then press Enter
Uninstall unnecessary programs (Games, crapware, toolbars, etc.)
Click start>Run.. Type msconfig>enter>Start Up. Uncheck the boxes for the programs that you think you may not use often
Open task manager and close any unnecessary processes running in background
Delete all unnecessary applications
If this didn't help you then simply get the Reginout to clean your laptop of temp files, history and cookies. Its also used to fix any registry errors.

Freezing up laptop


many things will make it freeze... the biggest reason is a virus or malware.. 2nd will be a bad hard drive... DO NOT take it to best buy.. craigslist has many competent people that will fix it for far far far less that the best buy scammers

Ever so slow response to typing an email using Hotmail


hey here are somethings you need to do.

1) Open internet explorer -> Tools-> Internet options ->General -> Browsing History -> Delete -> Check all boxes -> Delete. (IE 8, The process is quite similar in other browsers as well)

2)For XP
Start-> Run-> type temp-> Ok-> Select all-> (Shift +Delete)

For vista
Start-> Start Search-> type temp-> Ok-> Select all-> (Shift +Delete)

3) For XP
Start-> Run -> type %temp%-> Ok-> Select all -> (shift+delete)

For Vista
Start-> Start Search-> type %temp%-> Ok-> Select all-> (Shift +Delete)

4) Turn off laptop, Remove battery , Remove AC adapter, Press power button for 2 minutes. Put both back on. Turn on laptop.

5) Run virus scan and check for malware and other virus related issues. If anything is found delete the infected files.

6)
For XP
Go to Control Panel-> Add and remove programs-> Remove all unnecessary softwares

For Vista
Go to Control Panel-> programs-> Installed Progams->Remove all unnecessary softwares

7)
For XP
Run-> msconfig-> Startup->Disable all

For Vista
Start search -> msconfig -> Startup -> Disable all

Check for the system RAM. If your laptop has 2 memory cards installed. One might have failed. So try to remove it and fix it back again and check
