Or right click the drive in My Computer, and select eject.
you can find the tiny hole about 1 mm wide near the press button and use a paperclip straightened out. GENTLY poke it into the pinhole a few times and it
will manually open the drive.

My problem is the dvd tray wont open and i know that we need to use a pin in a pinhole to open it manually..but i want to know how can i overcome this problem totally..i mean, why the tray wont open and...

It's possible that a motor has died, or the tray has come off it's runners. Because of the replacement price of these parts, it's often cheaper to just put a new drive in, than it is to get the old one repaired.

If your confident at taking it apart, then you can look to see if there is a physical problem, but because it's a class 1 laser device, then I really wouldn't recommend you opening it up.

Dvd drive is flashing and wont release dvd and has system locked

Turn the system off completely even if you have to unplug it. Then use a paperclip or equivalent to open the drive through the manual access hole. This is the tiny hole on the front of the tray that will open the drive when the system is off. Remove the disk and restart the system. Don't use that disc. Hope this helps

My Dell Inspiron 530 will play CDs but it does not read DVDs any more. All my drivers are up-to-date. Anyone having this problem, or more importantly know how to fix it?

my friend this not about drivers.
laser head (which read discs) is weaken.
in common way you should change your DVD drive completely.
but i learn you a great way and this way isn't dangerous.
in this way you only clean laser do these works:
1- open PC's case and evolve DVD drive completely from The Case.
2- open DVD drive's screw's and try to find a small & shiny piece (laser head) (it is like Diamond!).
3- rub slowly on that shiny piece with a piece of cotton stained but some alcohol.
4- assemble DVD drive and put it back in The PC Case.
5- congratulate you because you saved you money smartly.

Wull not play commercial DVD on DVD player installed

Some viruses disable removable drives, so be sure that your antivirus is current an you have done a complete scan.

If it recognizes that it is a DVD, the software might have to be reinstalled. You can try opening the DVD player manually, it may recognize it then. There are several firmware updates on the dell site for the DVD drives.

Try booting the computer with a restore disk (just abort if it actually starts). If the drive does not recognise dvds (on boot and if you open the computer icon and see if the disk shows up) as a last resort before replacement, you might try a commercial drive cleaner.

My labtop just ate my dvd but i put another disc and it still works? how can i get the previous disc out?

The best thing to do would be to take the dvd drive out of the laptop completely. There usually is a screw on the bottom of the laptop holding in the drive.

Get the drive out and then with the end of a paper clip, put it in the hole in the front of the dvd drive so the door opens.

After you open up the door to the drive then make sure the dvd drive is upside down and shake it so any pieces from the disc that got ate up will come out onto the ground. If nothing comes out then you would need to take apart the drive by taking out the screws and then removing the pieces manually and then putting the screws back into the dvd drive.

My dvd door won't open on my desktop computer. The lights flash but it won't budge.

Get a sewing pin and push it into the tiny hole on the front of the drive. This will open it manually, it may have locked up and gotten stuck.

Toshiba P105-S6124 DVD Drive replacement.

there is usually one screw holding the dvd drive in, lay the PC closed, upside down, and lay the replacement drive in line with the old drive, this may tell you the exact location, or where to look (it may be under another removable panel, once the one screw is removed, the drive should slide out, if you eject the drawer, it is easier to remove after you pull out the screw, most have a manual eject (Pinhole in front by eject button) insert a straightened paper clip straight in. let me know if this helps or you need more info

Suspect dvd drive ribbon cable disconnected from Acer 9410 laptop

I guess it depends on the type of drive your laptop came with. Some laptops have a switch on the bottom of the laptop that lets you release and remove the DVD drive. Others have a small screw that has to be removed to pull out the drive. Yet others need the case completely taken apart. Guess it depends on your model...
