Spray a little WD40 on the broken thread, it makes it easier to pull out, also use dental picks to get in there.

SOURCE: Thread bunching up on bottom of fabric

Try making sure that the thread is all the way in the tension disk then test it out. I had a similar experience with an old machine.

SOURCE: Thread continuously getting ****/caught in shuttle

My first thought would be to check the threading on the top, all though it may look right undo it and redo it its real easy to get the tread behind the tension discs, instead of between them. If all that is right check your upper tension, but not until you have rethreaded it.

my suggestion is to have it checked, sometimes sewing thick fabric on some machines can cause a problem.

My pfaff 1475 CD thread is loopy on bottom and breaks on top.

Look very closely at your sample stitching and determine which thread (top or bobbin) is looping and which is breaking. That will narrow down where the problem exists.

A top thread that loops and makes thread "barfs" under the fabric is generally an upper thread tension problem.
Try: Remove the top thread. ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. Set the upper tension to the midway point (probably will need to tweak this tension depending on your machine).

Thread jam above the needle...I'm afraid to pull it from the top as I work the needle wheel manually in case it breaks off inside...

This may be helpful:

Pfixing the Pfaff

Most likely there is a worn groove or a rough spot that has caught the thread. I have an older machine that has an issue and have had to cover the spot with duct tape, although there may be other fixes.

If you are concerned about doing it yourself, just take it to a sewing repair shop and see if they can fix it there for you.

Pfaff 1475 manual

Not sure if your model is the creative 1475. The closest I can find at a service website of Pfaff is 1473. Check if this is similar to your model and it shows where the balance wheel goes.

My pfaff 1475 is looping when sewing a zipper

I have a 1475. I've generally found that this occurs when the needle thread tension is too low; the thread, having looped around the bobbin, isn't getting pulled back up because the tension is low enough that thread can be pulled from the spool more easily than the needle thread can be pulled back up from below the work. In some cases, switching to a larger needle is required; a bigger needle makes a bigger hole, which means it's easier for the thread to be pulled back up. (And if you switched to a heavier thread for the zipper, then you probably needed to go up to a larger needle anyway. Just because the thread will go through the eye, that doesn't mean the needle's the right size.)

The machine keeps locking up. i have cleaned the bobbin and hook area. there was not much lint

if your machine has a front loading bobbin case, remove it and then remove the shuttle which the bobbin case fits into. most often there is thread or lint caught in the shuttle race preventing the shuttle from turning (it only needs a tiny piece of thread).

if you have done this check any gear meshing to ensure no lint or thread has been caught in the teeth of the gears.

if the machine sews ok and locks up after a few stitches then it sounds like needle threading or tension causing the problem. re-thread the machine and ensure there is sufficient needle thread tension to bend the needle a little when presser foot is down and thread is pulled through needle.

goodluck,

scott.
