You can not shut off CCM CSRST fall Back service. You need to either remove SRST reference in the device pool or for the phone specific configuration. I suggest you create device pool similar to one you have but without SRSR reference. Then you need to re-apply device pool in the phoone configuration and restart the phone.

Has this just stopped working, or has it never been working?

On the call manager / CME the MWI (Message Waiting Indicator) needs to be configured. This could be undertaken either via the GUI or from the CLI

For instance ...

Cisco 7942 factory reset


When performing the factory reset procedure we are about to describe, it is important to keep in mind that the IP phone will lose all configuration files and phone applications. This means that it is necessary to have CallManager or CallManager Express setup so that the IP phone will be able to receive the new information (phone application and configuration) after the reset procedure is complete, otherwise it is most likely that the IP phone will not be usable until this information is loaded on to it.
This preparation also happens to be the procedure for upgrading a Cisco IP phone firmware.



Follow the steps below to successfully factory reset your Cisco 7942, 7962 IP phone:
  1. Unplug the power cable from the phone and then plug it back in. The phone begins its power up cycle.
  2. While the phone is powering up, and before the Speaker button flashes on and off, press and hold #. Continue to hold # until each line button flashes on and off in sequence in amber.
  3. Release # and press 123456789*0#.
You can press a key twice in a row, but if you press the keys out of sequence, the factory reset will not take place.
After you press these keys, the line buttons on the phone flash red and the phone goes through the factory reset process.
Do not power down the phone until it completes the factory reset process and the main screen appears.

You need to make sure that your laptop and IP phone are on the same network subnet. For instance, if you IP phone's IP address is 192.168.2.24 than your laptop must be on the same network addressing scheme, such as 192.168.2.23.

get a dial tone and dial 7091.

do the same with 7090 to turn the message light on.

For starters, have you obtained a Cisco Phone power supply for your 7962G? These phones require either a local 48V AC Adapter, or Power Over Ethernet, in order to power up.

I need to replace a Cisco 7060 handset that has gone faulty, I can only get 7961 models, would this model work properly? or can the firmware of 7960 be able to support 7961 or 7962 ?


The handset piece is interchangable. The firmware is NOT. The handset is simply the piece with the speaker and mic in it that you hold in your hand.

Cisco ip 7962 6 phone lines on a set 4 sets in our office When we answer someone else's line and put it on hold. They cannot pick it up from their desk. If we try to transfer it, it goes to voice mail...


In a VoIP setup, there aren't any "lines" you have to forward the call. Each phone is different on how to do this, but usually you hit transfer and punch in the extension and then hit dial.

Well, in most Cisco VoIP phones those lights are used to tell you if you have a voicemail. Have you checked your vm and cleared any new ones? This might be your issue ;)
