SOURCE: Have had our Stearns Spree

The best way to find a leak in an inflatable is to first inflate to normal or even slightly over normal and then mix up some Joy dishwashing soap and water to where the bubbles from the soapy water are tight and not flimsy. With a hand held sprayer start spraying the effected areas with the solution until you see bubbles forming from where the leak is occurring. There are other liquids you can use as well and Windex will work as well as a product called Snoop which can be purchased at hardware stores for finding gas leaks. Once the leak is discovered you can decide how you want to either patch it or have it repaired. Test the entire air valve very well to make sure it is not leaking. Most Dish washing soaps will work I just found thet Joy is the easiest to work with cause its bubbles stand up nice and clear. Check all the seams real well for small leaks like this as they tend to sprout up in the seams over time. Pin holes can be repaired very quickly using either the patch kit you received with your product or by using Air Seal (U051/AS1). It only takes a few minutes for Air Seal to dry completely.

Stearns is now owned by Colman. Contact them at http://www.coleman.com/contactus/

You will probably need to find a specialist shop to install the zipper, if you can get it.

try "Iboats.com" they have lots of that stuff. Also "Marine engines", If none of those have anything- check with the big chain stores as much of that stuff was carried by Sears, Wal-mart, or Target. They will often carry the manuales on their web site.

Can you repair sevylor bladders? if so how?

dollar store contact cement in tube., an old bike tire, cut a patch out of tire and glue the patch on glueing around hole and underneath patch. apply patch smoothly. now glue around edge of patch. and let it dry for a few days at least 24 hrs. I have patched a bic yakka and a few cheaper inflatables patches hold up and hold air. good luck.

The pump goes on and off repeatedly

The pump should only run if you are using water. If you have a leak it will cycle on and off. If it only cycling fast when you're using water, you may need an expansion tank, sometimes referred to as a bladder tank for newer style. If you have a "bladder" tank , the bladder may be leaking and lost it's air charge. This bladder will have an initial air charge, and when the pump runs it will compress the bladder even further. When the pump shuts off the bladder is compressed. When you begin to use water, mainly low flow like one faucet, the bladder will begin to expand expelling the water from the tank until the pressure drops below that of the pump pressure switch. This makes the pump start and stop fewer times.

Sounds like the bladder is gone or inproper air pressure in water storage tank.

Bladder goes bad check it out with step 1
1-
One way to check for sure with everything hooked up. The air valve on top of the tank if pressed you will get water out of the valve which should be only air. This will let you know it should replaced.

If Tank bladder is low in air and not water coming out.

2-If it checks ok put an air gauge to tank to check the air pressure, with a standard 40 gal tank you will have 28 psi of air in tank for it to function properly.

Air in lines

SOUNDS LIKE A CRACKED SUCTION STUB OR LOOSE THREADED FITTING SUCKING IN AIR.

OR THE CHECK VALVE IS FAILING AND ALLOWING THE WATER TO LEAK BACK SLIGHTLY OR ALL THE WAY BACK. YOU CAN ALSO ADD A FOOT VALVE AT THE END OF THE PIPE.

LONG SHOT, BUT THE BLADDER TANK IS CHARGED WITH AIR AND MAY HAVE A HOLE IN THE BLADDER CAUSING THE TANK AIR TO ENTER THE SYSTEM. SHOULD RUN OUT QUICKLY THOUGH. HOPE THIS HELPS, JODY
