Question about Altec Lansing VS4121 Speaker

Open Question

Constant static sound

My Altec Lansing VS4121 right speaker is emitting a constant static sound. I've tried unplugging the aux cord and left channel, but that doesn't fix anything. Any other solutions?

SOURCE: Altec Lansing VS4121 no sound

If removing and reinstalling the driver fixed your problem then there was nothing wrong with the speakes. There was probably a problem with your soundcard drivers.

That being said, you should double check that you speakers are plugged in to the right sound board connector and the power supply is plugged into the wall outlet.

Does you computer have a headphone jack? If it does, you might try plugging a headset into it to see if you can hear sound there. If you do then you'll know the soundboard is working properly and maybe the speakers really are part of the problem. CD/DVD drives usually have a headset jack, but this will only work if a cable was run inside the computer from the CD/DVD drive to either the soundboard or motherboard.

What kind of computer do you have? Do you know if you have on board sound or a seperate sound board?

SOURCE: No Power (LED off) in the Altec Lansing VS4121

There is a fuse on the power supply board which is held in place with 4 screws. Yiu will have to unplug the sub-woofer connector to remove it.

It is unlikely that this is a problem with your speakers more likely that it is a problem with the DVD player itself. I would recomend trying another DVD player.

Check all leads are plugged in the right spots and are in good condition. Sometimes "static" is caused by plugs not connecting properly.

My right speaker altec lansing vs4121 no sound only power

try swapping the speakers around if the problem still persists either the speaker is faulty or
the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good
or you might have to clean the dust from your computer dust causes static which causes your computer to overheat and all sorts of problems
be sure to wear an anti static earth strap before touching anything inside your computer try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the CPU central processing unit and your SOUND CARD dust causes static to build up in a computer causing it to overheat any many other problems:
hope this helps

My altec lansing vs4121 speaker have to much bass with several mp3 files, waht ca i do

If it's only certain MP3 files you might want to identify WHY those files have too much bass. THAT would have happened when they were created. It's not a speaker's fault how the music sounds. Then there's your PC or whatever other device it passes through. Lots of opportunities for MALadjusted sound. GIGO.

Hello Adrenalize, hi, you may be right, but also check other ICs as well, the humming sound can be caused by the amplifier or its preamp section, this is where the 1036 (this is a dc operated tone control) is located. But before replacing the 1036, try first replacing the POWER AMP IC. (my experiences with those humming sounds usually are caused by IC amplifiers and op-amp ICs.)

Static but no music from the satelite trebble speaker

Try to reconnect all the wires, the problem seems to be with connection. Instead of spending lot of money on speakers, you can buy just the wires, they are pretty cheap. Hope this helps.

Vs4121 altec lansing left speaker wire ripped.

Black should be ground and red is usually the actual audio cable. If you connect them wrong the should not short. They will just sound weird until you connect them properly.

Check the speaker if its okay, disconnect the left side one and connect the right side one and play. If it does not then the speaker is bad.
