That can be anything from the ignition switch, to the key going bad, to some wiring. First try to go to advance auto, and see if they can run a diagnostics check. Or if you want, you can disconnect the positive battery terminal, or negative, and let it sit without power for a few hours. That will reset the computer on the vehicle. If that will not work, take it to your local Chevrolet dealer, that has the repair shop, and have them look at it. The ignition is a funky little thing. My 2002 Chevrolet Malibu ignition just stopped working on me, I pulled the switch out and replaced it. But it never caused the car to cut off on me. It just seized the key in there and wouldn't release it.
