Some laptops may have a direct input for the Wifi antenna......you have to check with the manufacturer of the laptop if you dont see an input jack for an antenna. Usually those antennas are built into the laptop internally.

I have a Hisense TV and am trying every antenna to get local channels but it searches and finds no channels... Frustrated... I don't have cable or wifi any suggestions?

You need to find out the miles between the t.v. and the nearest broadcast antennae. Call a few t.v. stations. Then buy the proper distance antennae with outdoor attachment for window.
Hope that helps.

Need software to download for an Ideaworks long distance WiFi Antennae. Need the drivers

You shouldn't need drivers. All you need to do is plug it in, go to your laptop, go to the bottom right of your machine and click on the wifi section

How to connect two wifi routers using modem....In home on one network???

while two WiFi connections can work, if youdo it that way you will need to disconnect from one and reconnect to other everytime you move from one extreme to the other. also you only extend your range by the distance from one to the other.

what you need (for a weak signal) is a repeater. it is a box designed to listen on one WiFi channel and repeat it on another. bin turn it also listens on the repeated channel for communication from your remote device and repeats it onto the original channel so it is as if the new channel is the original channel... place this repeater at half strength distance (power source will be needed but wires to base computer not needed) and you have extended your range by about half the distance...

to go further out just add another repeater (or more)
I googled "WiFi repeater" and was presented with a wide range of options (see photo for partial screenie)... generally the more expensive the further or wider the range... without even looking further i would suspect that the more expensive ones likely could even cover more range than two of that modem you showed combined

a few shown might be the kind with two units that you plug one near base computer and plug other farthest away from base... they not only use house wiring to power the units but also use the electric wire as an antenna for comunicating as if there were an ethernet connection between them.

HG8245A VS HG8245: The same Wifi Signal Strength?

Probably not...... With an External Antenna, there is nothing to stop the signal, whereas with the Internal, the Signal has to penetrate the case, before it goes to wherever...... I suggest using the External for the extra distance.... With 2 way radio the clearer the area yo have the Antenna, the greater the distance.... same here.... just using different Frequencies.

The computer just doesn't seem to have enough range to connect to the internet but my other computer has no problem connecting from the same distance

If it has built in wifi and has ever been dropped the antenna wires may have come off the wifi card if it has significantly less range than your other laptop

Wifi problems v3-771

Inside most laptops, there is a WiFi Antenna. I once also had an issue with my laptop allowing me access, and then flicking off again. So every time I tried to use a program called "Steam" I would be disconnected from the servers. Inside the laptop, there is a wire that is attached to the WiFi receiver, that gets plugged into your laptops motherboard, If it is loose, just disconnect it completely, then plug it back in. If the antenna is warm, or hot. That means it is burnt out, and will continue not to work unless it is properly cooled. You CANNOT cool a WiFi antenna, so it is best to either search the web, and buy a new WiFi antenna that is the same model and brand as the one in your laptop, or just buy a LAN/Ethernet cable and play like that.
*NOTE - When you first buy a Ethernet cable, the laptop WiFi antenna must be removed, otherwise the laptop will switch between the two, and will make you periodically loose internet connection. Also, the computer will still (not as much) continue to disconnect, and reconnect for a while. Roughly 8-10 days, and then everything should smooth-en out. Here is a link to an image of a WiFi antenna for laptop:

Or, yours may look something like this:

Hopefully this helps you!

I get bad reception with my TP-Link PCIe Wifi Card! What can i do?

Often times the antennae on these routers come loose. Ensure that the antennae are firmly plugged in.

Try also changing the channel. Routers have 11 to 13 possible channels and most default to 1 6 or 11. Try a different number to reduce interference.

Physical construction of your house can hinder wifi reception. This is often subjective and your best bet would be to move the router around the room or into a different room if possible.

Zyxel g220 wireless connection fails

It could be a distance problem, or interference problem. They do sell replacement antennas for your router and/or wireless card that will provide better reception.

Before you run to the store and waste money, I would search your favorite search engine for something called the "windsurfer wifi antenna". It is something you can make at home. Basically you take some cardboard and wrap it in aluminum foil. Shape it kind of like a dish and put one on your router antenna and one on your computer's wireless card antenna. It has been shown to increase your wifi strenghth by about 3dB. I did this and it seamed to help a little, can't hurt to try.

Also check for cordless phones and other such things sitting near your wireless devices, as that can cause electronic disturbance.

Wifi (laptop)

built in wifi cards are very limited in range, get an external pc card
then you can get an antenna to connect to that if needed.
I use both and find the external card is best in reception.
you can connect an antenna to the internal card but you will have to leave the access panel open or make a hole in it.
