I'm assuming you've already managed to lift the keyboard to expose the cable and ribbon connector on the motherboard.
As you can see the ribbon looks as though it just slot into what looks like a rectangular block.
The top and rear of the connector block is one piece and needs to be CAREFULLY lifted, it only comes up and eight of an inch or so. This releases the ribbon. The block stays in situ.
Here's a Youtube video which shows a similar connector :-
It may be the same as yours,
Here's another youtube clip describing the kind of connector I tried abover.

When a computer powers up the basic control program (BIOS) first addresses the graphics, then the CPU, then the memory, then the hard drive, then other devices.
If you see nothing at all on the screen, then it is probably a problem with the graphics card.
Check the lights on the front of the laptop. If you see a power light but no activity on the hard disk activity light, then the boot is failling at the 1st stage, before it even reaches the hard disk stage. this means a graphics problem.
If the hard disk was preventing the computer from biooting you would see the first 3 parts of the boot procedure on the screen before it stops at the hard disk stage.
Remove the battery. Connect the power cable without the battery and try to boot. If it boots, the battery is the problem.
Connect a desltop PC VGA cable to the laptop's VGA port and connect it to a desktop PC monitor and send the image to the external monitor by pressing th Fn key simultaneously with the Function key with a picture of 2 monitors (normally F5, F6 of F7). If the image appears on the external monitor, the graphics card is ok.
If the graphics card is OK, then the problem will be a faulty LCD Panel, LCD Panel Power Inverter or LCD Panel Cold Cathode backlight. If not then the problem is the graphics card.
Ask a technician to test and replace any of these faulty parts, if necessary.
If it is the graphics card, then the repair is either Ball graphics Array Reflow or Reballing, both of which can be expensive, have a marginal success rate and the fault can reoccur after repair.
Only a specialist with an Infra Red workstation can fix the graphics card,. typical repair warranty is 3-6 months. If it's too expensive to fix, it may be better to buy a new laptop.
I hope this helps.
