I drive a 98 Ford Taurus Se. I have been using a tape adapter to play music from my phone. For the longest time, I've had problems with my tape player making annoying noises. Finally, it quit working all together and would spit the tape out accompanying an error message every time I tried to insert it. I corrected the problem initially by finding a whole other unit at a salvage yard. It worked great for about a week then this morning I turned the car off and put it in accessory mode. The tape ejected and every time I tired to insert it would make a grinding sound and eject the tape. I'm wondering what the problem could be and if there is any solution to it. It seems a bit random seeing as it had been working flawlessly. Any insight?
Buy a new tape adapter, the tape player heads are either dirty or out of adjustment. The problem will persist, but a new tape adapter may make it work again. It's very hard to find a replacement for a tape player now as they're obsolete. Your best bet to find a replacement is like you've already done... source one from a salvage yard. Good luck with that!

If your car is 3 weeks old, it should be under full dealer warranty and you shouldn't even be asking here...it may be the power steering assist motor.
SOURCE: How to deal with abnormal sound of the engine compartment?
This could be because the generator belt too tight or water pump pulley or the bearing lubrication generator pulley side, plus the cold start when the pressure is too large, which issued abnormal sound. There may be due to the belt slip slightly, abnormal sound caused. The engine if the idle speed is low, coupled with the engine machine claw installation position is improper, also in the engine jitter, friction machine claw and support on the body will lead to abnormal sound.
find some useful car diagnostic tool to Test out the problem.
