Question about Brother MFC Office Equipment & Supplies
Wireless connection between laptop and printer
You should check if your printer has an internet connection, if it does you can just plug it in and use it as a network printer.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

You have to share the printer to the network
To do that go to Start >> Control Panel >> Printer
Select your printer and right click go to Sharing
Mark "share this printer" an hit ok
A small hand will appears below your icon printer
Now you have the printer available on your network

In order to do this, the laptops have to be able to communicate with each other wirelessly. I.e., you have to have a wireless network set up. If you do, then you are "printer sharing", using one laptop as the 'printer server' (with the printer connected to it) and the other as the 'client'. Step by step instructions are available at this link. Type "printer sharing" in the search box in the center of the screen and click on the Search button. Select the option that matches your requirements.

have you setup the wireless connection in between the printer and the laptop...
your laptop is working wirelessly with the internet but for making the printer to use it wirelessly the printer should be also a wireless printer.
and if the printer is a wireless printer then you have to setup the connection in between the printer & laptop to work wirelessly.

The printer driver needs to be installed and the printer port changed from LPT1 or USB to a TCP/IP port.
Please refer to my tip on Setting up HP network printer. the principles are the same for setting up network printers with a print server.
