Printer blurring is usually caused by the characters not lining up properly. Go into your printhead maintenance menu and perform the automatic printhead alignment.

Most likely you're wiper for the capping station is covered in ink. I recommend having the printer cleaned by someone who does maintenance on Epson printers.

SOURCE: Epson Stylus Pro 9880 Does Not Print

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Epson stylus pro 9880 blocked nozzles won't clear

I have a 9800 - you can remove the print head, and try cleaning the nozzles manually and see if there's something on them. I'm sure any warranties would be void if you do such a thing, but - you're up for replacement of the print head anyway. So do with caution and at your own risk.

It takes about 30 mins and requires a reasonable level of skill. Search around and get the service manual - they are out there pretty easy to find. They give step-by-step procedures to get it apart safely.

Then clean the print head with either rubbing alcohol or hot water (alcohol is probably better). If your print head got stuck on tape, you might have the glue from the tape on the print head. So some kind of solvent to remove the glue - again - be careful and watch that you don't create further problems.

I've done similar with my printer and it still works fine and haven't had to change the print head for the past few years.

Welcome to FixYa!

If you have not used your printer for a long time, the print head nozzles may be clogged. Perform a nozzle check and clean the print heads.

Use the Epson Printer Utilities to do a nozzle check and to clean the printer head.

Does not print

Hi,
First of all please check the ink level. If it is not finished try followings:

First try to run a cleaning cycle. To do that:
- Load paper in the paper tray. - Access printer utilities. (Right click your printer icon, select printing preferences and click the utility tab to access printer utilities) - Click the nozzle check icon. - Print to check it.
Then click the clean button to clean the print head. - Try it a few times.
İf it doesn't help you can try to run power cleaning cycle. But it uses much ink. There must be enough ink in the cartridge.
Hope this helps.

Epson rx 500 print problem

Please confirm that the head cleanings were done using the most effective method listed below.

1. Make sure the printer is turned on but not printing.

NOTE: You cannot clean the print head if the any of the cartridges are expended. Replace the appropriate ink cartridge before proceeding.

2. Load letter size paper.

3. Click on START.

For Windows 95/98/ME: Click SETTINGS, PRINTERS, then right click on the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PROPERTIES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.

For Windows 2000: Click SETTINGS, PRINTERS, then right click on the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.

For Windows XP: Click CONTROL PANEL, PRINTERS AND FAXES. Right click your EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. If this icon is not showing, select VIEW INSTALLED PRINTERS. Then right click the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.

For Windows Vista: Click CONTROL PANEL, HARDWARE AND SOUND then PRINTERS. Note: these steps may vary depending on how Vista is setup. Right click on the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.

4. Click on the UTILITY or MAINTENANCE tab, then click on HEAD CLEANING.

5. Follow the instructions on the screen to clean the print head. Cleaning takes about 30 seconds, during which time the printer makes some noise and the power light flashes. Never turn off the printer while the power light is flashing, unless the printer has not moved or made noise for more than 5 minutes.

6. When the power light stops flashing click PRINT NOZZLE CHECK PATTERN and then click NEXT.

7. If the nozzle check pattern has no gaps in its lines, click FINISH. If the pattern has any gaps, click CLEAN to clean the printhead again.

8. If the situation continues after three cleaning cycles and nozzle checks, replace one of the affected ink cartridge(s).

9. Once the cartridge(s) has been replaced, please follow steps one through seven up to three times.

If the nozzle check still has gaps after you have run at least 3 consecutive cleaning cycles and replaced the affected ink cartridge(s), your printer will require service.
