These models and many other magellan model have issues with the power port failing..if you have a friend that has the same model, borrow his/hers and try the cradle on your gps and see if that works..im sure that power connection on that model is on the cradle.

My Megallan Roadmate 1470 car GPS is frozen. Only 7 months old.

Hello Fred,

First of all I want to thank you for choosing and clicking on my ad. I feel you might a right choice. I am for sure a Expert On Megallan. Here is your simple solution to solve your problem. And please any positive feedback and rating would be fantastic. Feel free to also use me in the future for gps and other areas of my expertize. Thanks MIke..... See my steps below.

Lets see if we can get your unit first working by a common problem and possibly with a common fix. Try this and let me know if worked. It needs to be rebooted. Turn off, by holding off button down. Then once it is completely off, then turn it on, BUT when you go to turn it on, keep the on button depressed, all the way until it turns on and then some for about 15 seconds, now you just rebooted system. Let me know if that cleared this up. If not, it is possible there is a shorted circuit inside, then in that case, would have to be sent into Magellan to replace or repair. Thanks again, MIKE

My Explorist 210 does not connect with any computer. What can I do.

Hello,
What is happening is your computers are not recognizing your unit. Means you have to update unit via the registered site for updates.
Hello,

first Perform a hardware reset to return the minor settings of the GPS to the original condition. Press the small "Reset" button on the side of the unit for several seconds until it powers off and powers back on.

If that doesn't solve the problem, then it means you will have to perform a firmware upgrade to put the GPS back in order.

Download and install the Content Manager software available for free from the Magellan support website. Connect your GPS to your computer with a USB cable, and the software will automatically search for firmware updates for your GPS.

Here is support to copy and paste in your browser for Magellan.

Magellan Roadmate 1440 certainly dead and won't power on. Any advice?

Hi onestrategy,

These are tips I have used and given others about this series Magellan units. Make sure you have external power hooked up for best results.

Magellan RoadMate models 1340, 1440, and 1470 are normally reset as follows:
The reset button is located on the right side of the unit. Press a blunt object like a long-shaft ballpoint pen or a cut off toothpick
into the small hole and hold for approximately 15 seconds. The unit should do a fresh reboot. Sometimes these GPS units can be reset by holding the Power button down for 10-15 seconds to completely shut the unit down. Then, do the same procedure for 10-15 seconds again, to power it back on.

Also, here's another procedure you really only try as a last resort, if the unit is on, but acting up with various menus and functions. Use this very carefully...

While on the main Menu Bar at "System Settings", tap the left corner twice, right corner twice, left corner once, and finally, right corner once. You will see a 'Hidden' menu with a "Reset for first use". Press that option and the unit will perform a hard reset. Hopefully, you can continue all you setups from this point.

Also you can download a complete manual from this link:
http://www.magellangps.com/assets/manuals/Magellan_RoadMate_1440_EN.pdf

The manual won't tell you all these little tricks, so it might be a good idea to make a hard copy of these notes (in case you ever need them again...lol). I hope this helps. Please let me know how it turns out, and contact me if you need further help.

Regards, Bill

My gps is stuck on magellan boot up screen.

turn on your 1210 once it boots to the magellan screen press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds, once it shuts off, power it back on by pressing and holding the power button for up to ten seconds then let it load.

if that fails, power it up and try the reset button, (either on the bottom or on the side)the little pinhole, and use a paper clip to depress the reset
button.

Gps will not turn on

make sure green light is on the car charger and let it plugged in for awhile, then hold the power button (upto ten seconds) until it starts..if that fails

the following magellan 2000,2200t,2500,3000,3100,3140,4000 and the 4050 are known to have faulty dc connectors...if your magellan gps is not charging or will not power up, its most likely the dc power port...i sell these power ports and will repair them for anyone thats not able to do it them selves

Magellan Crossover will n ot turn on

charge for a few hours then try again. make sure the charger is working. if that does nothing, try holding the power button for about 15 seconds and try again. if that does nothing try a hard reset and if that fails, unplug the battery and plug it back in<<<do this while unplugged from charger ofcoarse.
