Did you push the reset button on the rear of the vacuum. If it has. Overheated the reset will trip.

Beater bar is not turning...read that you must reset beater bar. Where is the reset button?

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having a problem with your DC24. Resetting it is simple: after checking the brushbar is free of threads, hair and other obstructions, turn the cleaner to face you. You'll find the reset button in the red recess on the left-hand side of the cleaner head. Use the blunt end of a pencil or something similar to push it in until you hear an audible 'click'.

For more detailed information on how to clean the brushbar and check the cleaner head for blockages, you may find it helpful to visit www.dyson.com and click on 'Support':

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1129&product=DC24-ALLFLOORS

If you find you're unable to get the brushbar started again after cleaning and resetting it, please get in touch with us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). One of our experts will be happy to provide the assistance you need.

Kind regards,

Jack

Hi! My central vacuum has worked perfectly until just a couple months ago. I went to plug the vacuum in and it didn't automatically start the suction. When I clicked the switch to the right on the...

It sounds like you may have a bad hose. Plug the hose into the wall but rotate it 90 degrees from the normal position. This will bypass the switch on the hose. If you look at the wall end of your hose, you will see a metal band around it. That metal band is split into two sections. You are trying to plug in the hose so that the separation of the two pieces of metal is not lining up at the top of your inlet. If your vacuum turns on then you have a bad hose. It is possible that you have a bad switch in the hose, but it is more likely that you have a bad hose.

If your vacuum does not turn on, then you may have a break in your low voltage wire somewhere. You can check to make sure it didn't get disconnected at the unit. If the wire is connected then try to cross the low voltage wire from the relay at the unit with a small screw driver. If the unit does not turn on you have a bad relay.

If it is the relay, AirVac does not provide them. You would need to consider buying a new unit.

Will only run when tilted (i.e. motor won't run when standing upright)

Ok, I just had this happen today. Very odd...vacuum cleaner just shut off on it's own. I checked the circuit breaker, checked the filter, checked the belt on the roller, checked the canister, checked for clogs...nothing. I then turned it on again...wow, came on in tilted position, shut off in upright position, wand would not work either. I didn't notice much suction as I have twp golden retrievers and when I got half my living room done, not much inside. I called Dyson...usually they tell me to take it in for repairs. I got a nice helpful man who told me there are two motors in this machine; one for the beater brush and one for everything else. He told me the one for everything else maybe over headed or something got clogged in the machine and the motor needed to reset itself. He told me to unplug it and leave it for about 90 minutes then it will work. Guess what? It did! He said there is no reset button so you just have to wait until it cools off and resets itself. So happy I got help from Dyson this time instead of just the same "take it in" answer. It is the best vacuum for dog hair and I didn't want to spend another $500 to $600 for a new one just yet.

My hoover has no suction at the nozzle, though it has strong suction at the hose. This problem started after I replaced the vacuum bag for the first time.

there is a blockage behind the roller brush remove the roller plate and the roller and check the inlet hose for a blockage also remove the bag and chek the inlet to the bag for some type of obstruction. Don the Vacuum Doctor Alb, N.M.

Edge of carpet went into carpet; was removed, but now all rollers on the unerside don't function.

You didn;'t say what the problem is, but I assume that the brush roll is not turning. Take of the cover over the brush roll, then you can get to the brush roll and the belt. The belt probably came off or broke. Best to replace the belt.
