Question about Microwave Ovens

Open Question

I have Neff oven B6774N.0GB FD number 8607

I have Neff oven B6774N.0GB FD number 8607
The pop out/turn switch for the function selector has become loose and I'm sure one day it will come off/out completely. It can probably be adjusted or tightened (I hope). Can the control panel be simply levered off so that I can get at the switches/controls? So how do I get to this switch to repair or replace please?
Thanks
Kevin in Gloucester.

SOURCE: Complete functioning control panel but nothing works.

This is a problem with the control panel assembly, which we repair nationwide for $32.50 postpaid. Sometimes the bulbs short when they fail, and that damages the control board. This also can happen when bulbs are removed or installed without first unlugging the oven or turning off the breaker. Remove the grill, should be screws on the top of the unit. There should be one screw behind the grill at the top of the control panel. Remove it and pop the control panel up to remove it. Make sure the mw is unplugged first. Then you can remove the board.

If there's no obvious removable cover over the bulb (and the owner's manual doesn't address it) some disassembly may be required.

Always unplug a microwave before removing or installing any bulbs.

If it's an over the range type, remove the vent grille across the top and see if bulbs can be accessed there. There may be a panel on the bottom covering the light(s), instead.

If not, chances are you'll have to remove it from the wall, then remove the outer cover. If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

Once it's out of the wall, the outer cover (wrapper) will need to be removed, just as you'll need to do on a counter top model.

On a counter top model, be sure it's unplugged, but otherwise ignore the instructions above this paragraph.

The screws you need to remove should be pretty obvious, but a special driver (such as a T20H type or GTXH20-100) may be needed.

Be sure to put all the screws back in the right holes, since some may be special grounding screws.

Bulbs can be had in most grocery stores, hardware stores, home improvement centers, and big box or department stores.

Many models use halogen lamps. You must not touch the new one with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

SOURCE: Control Panel of Maytag Microwave CMV 1000B doesn't work

You have a failed membrane keypad.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

If you would like to have us do this repair for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your model number) for more information & help.

My NEFF H56W20SOGB microwave does not heat up, all functions seem to be ok just no heat regardless of which settings. Can you please advise?

Alas, there are a number of issues that could be the problem, from something as simple as a switch, to the worst possible issue, the magnetron tube. However, it is not in the wheelhouse of the average DIYer to repair microwave ovens, and small appliance repair shops are getting harder to find since most folks don't want to spend half the of the cost of the device (or more) for repairs. This is why manufacturers offer warranties on these products, as they know once they fail, replacement is the most likely course of action.

I have a neff B6774N0GB combi oven. Activated the hot air button and it has tripped the circuit breaker. Fan element examined and looks perfect. Oven is isolated from other appliances

The hot air function uses a great deal more current than the other functions. Check the tag on the oven for current requirements, and check the rating of the circuit breaker in use. If the breaker is rated lower than the ovens rated maximum current draw, it will trip under the load. If the rating of the breaker is above the ovens maximum current draw, and there is nothing else plugged into that circuit, the breaker may need replacement.

Mirowave wont start

I assume from your description that you can set power and time but nothing kicks in when you press start?? This could be a control panel fault but may be a problem with the door lock/switches. Check that the spring on the door hooks is ok, just lift it up and check it returns to down position by itself. If the microswitches do not make properly when the door is closed the m/w will not start because it assumes the door is open. A microwave (even when switched off) can be storing a high voltage so unless you are trained I would suggest you get an expert to take a look. BSH is Neff service division 0844 872 8999, they offer a one off repair plan, which covers your first repair and then any further repairs for a year. You can pay monthly by DD to spread the cost. (This may be age related so as yours m/w is nearly 10years old, it may not be eligible).
Hope this helps.

NEFF MICROWAVE OVEN BLOWS 10A INTERNAL FUSE

We had the same problem, got Neff service engineer to come out after taking out insurance. He said the megatron cracks which is a large magnet and causes the fuse board to blow and needs to be replaced. This occurs through lack of ventilation on instalation. Total cost £370 may as well get a new one. Plus our insurance wouldn't pay the cost and cancelled the insurance policy.

go to the NEFF spares area here: http://bshappliancecare.com/Neff/neffspares.html at BSHAppliancecare - if you an locate the FD or E-Nr inside the appliance door then you are laughing. The site's a doddle to use. It should have exploded diagrams and part numbers to look up - and order. The prices seem to be fantastic for the replacements I've made (oven and fridge seals)
