SOURCE: sthil whipper snipper fs38 won't engage the starting pull mechanism, it turns but won't grab drive coupling

Also check to make sure the dogs are engaging when the cord is pulled. If not manually move the dogs in and out they might be stuck.
If not look at the pulley surface to see if the teeth are still pronounced
and able to engage if they are rounded off you will need to replace
the gear.

Englebert the most common thing would be that the inner shaft has sheared off. Remove the head and see if it spins then.

Whipper Snipper

check to see that you have a left hand nut on the head as it requires it to tighten up as the shaft spins. Check to see if the shaft spindle turns the right way for your new head

I have just got sa new head for my whipper snipper and i would like yto know how to change it

take the spool off and then you will see a nut, it is left handed threaded, on the top side of the head unit there is a plug/bolt/screw remove that and wedge a flat tip screwdriver into the gears and remove the nut, replace with new unit tighten replace plug and it is a done deal. Good Luck Tim

My whipper snipper starts well but has no power to

Battery is NO GOOD.... need new ones, these quickly go bad, if not religiously charged and discharged. You must charge a long time when first get them, and then as soon as flat must go back on charger, for at least 4hours... regardless what is said. If ever removed before properly charged, then it will "remain" at that level, next charge and so on... All batteries MUST be flat before recharge, and full before used again, no exceptions.

Unable to get head of whipper snipper

After much mucking around I noticed a hole in the top shroud of the shaft. I placed a narrow screw driver through the hole until it made contact with the rotating part of the head and pushed until the head would not turn. I thern applied pressure clockwise until the head became loose. I did the reverse to tighten. The head of the unit will rotate anti clockwise to tighten as the shaft rotates clockwise during operation. I hope this explains the method.
Thank you any way for your interest.
